This consultation doesn't appear to be on the TfL website yet, however the local newspaper for Barking and Dagenham is reporting a forthcoming consultation about route 5 being rerouted via Queen's Hospital. www.barkinganddagenhampost.co.uk/news/bus_review_could_shorten_queen_s_hospital_trips_for_barking_and_dagenham_residents_1_4604550I am surprised that this doesn't done when the hospital initially opened in 2006 seeing as half of Barking comes under Queen's Hospital's area and many people do frequently visit there for appointments and various other reasons. Getting from the 5 to the Hospital can be a bit cumbersome if you do not know how to use the back roads to walk to the hospital or you have to wait for a 175/128.

There is an outstanding Mayor's Question and answer on this issue - B&D access to Queens Hospital. There are also other rumbling questions about more and more routes linking hospitals together. The 483 has unleashed this concept. TfL are also due to publish a review on bus access to hospitals in a few months.

I regularly have to travel to Queens- it probably make the journey a bit easier but then, it's not that much of an arduous journey anyway- I generally change at the stop after Becontree Heath in the hope an E200MMC turns up on the 499 I think a better option for the Riverside could be a new route. I'll put my idea into the appropriate thread though

I'm not a local but if I was, it would get a definite thumbs up from me. Hospital provision is very important and I can't see many people mourning the South Street section.

The only thumbs down part from me is it'll be a longer walk from The Crown pub at Roneo Corner to the 5 bus stop- however, I normally leave once the N15 has started running.
Apart from that, thumbs up from me- there is a need for links between Barking and Queen's but I'm a bit disappointed here isn't a new link to Barking Riverside being proposed

I think the volume of passengers wouldn't justify the link of a night bus running every 8 minutes through there.

I was thinking the same thing. it is so important that A&E and EUCC have night links I'd imagine some blue light calls would not take place at hospitals that were to have good 24/7 transport links to them. Although in terms of the N15 I accept thinlizzy 's point

Although the consultation result has not been provided on the TfL site I've just been looking at recent Mayor's Answers. In response to a query about diverting route 103 into Queens Hospital there was this response which also references route 5. So the 5 is going to run via the Hospital.

Thanks for that, I was wondering when the result was going to come out. Nice to see this get the go ahead

Excellent, hopefully another 2 Tridents will make their way to BK for the increased PVR. As a frequent visitor at Queens Hospital, and somebody who lives on the 5 it's excellent news, although currently it's just a quick change of buses at Becontree Heath.

Bah! That wasn't uploaded when I looked earlier. Obviously someone's on the late shift of shoving out consultation results before people go on holiday. Cynical, moi?
