Thought I'd use this thread that I've started here to specifically talk about NCTs fleet, new orders etc.
To kick start, I thought I'd post a link about their most recent order, click on the link to read more.

The artists impression of them looks stunning

I don't get to Nottingham that often but I am usually very impressed with the service level NCT operate. I've only used their buses a couple of times but they seem to have a generally modern fleet with good service levels right across the City. They have also avoided getting into too many silly competitive scraps with Trent Barton although Dunn Line (Your Bus) keep trying to nibble away at both operators' territories.
The other impressive thing with NCT is they manage to keep on top of vehicle investment with regular fleet renewal and cascades to less renumerative services. I assume the arrival of the Gas Buses will see the older Scania Omnidekkas go from the fleet.

I went to Nottingham yesterday. I rode 3 NCT buses new since my last visit ie Scania - E400 409, gas-powered Scania - E400 - City 452 and E200 394. Nottingham has the distinction of being the largest city in Britain where the 2 largest local bus operators are both outside the top 5 national companies! As well as NCT they have Trent Barton, now the only management-owned former NBC subsidiary. I thus rode TB Eclipse 771, E200 126 and refurbished Scania - Solar 662. (I also did Versa 805 in Derbyshire). Nottingham also has electric single-deckers with N4CT, otherwise known as Nottingham Community Transport. I rode 985, a BYD single-deck (not with E200 - MMC bodywork) on the free CentreLink service. Then there are the trams. I rode both types and all stops bar 1 of the extensions from a few years ago. My final bus in Nottingham was the Scania - E400, which had a red front. I then reflected on how this combination has so far eluded London. I can imagine Nottingham being the sort of place you might like wirewiper !

<snip> I can imagine Nottingham being the sort of place you might like wirewiper ! It absolutely is - Scanias, E400 Citys AND trams! And a progressive transport policy that uses revenue raised from a levy on parking to support public transport.

Furthermore, given that both NCT and TB have different colours for at least parts of their buses on several routes, Nottingham must be one of the most colourful places in the country for bus liveries.

NCT is set to get another 67 bio-gas Scania Enviro 400 City buses with £1.12m funding from OLEV and that will bring the fleet of bio-gas buses up to 120 buses (including the 53 of them already in NCT fleet). - www.nctx.co.uk/moregasbuses
The first two routes that are set to use the new batch of bio-gas E400 Citys are the Brown Line 17 & the Pink Line 28 and this should see some of the Omnidekkas (Likely all N94's and some N230's) being withdrawn.

Just to be clear, the new funding is for infrastructure improvements, to increase the refuelling capacity for bio-gas buses. The announcement of the award has cleared the way for NCT to place the order for the 67 new buses.

I was in Nottingham recently and very impressed as always with NCT, it's not difficult why they've won so many awards. It's suggested that the new influx should see off all pre 2010 double deckers from the fleet. The only concern seems to be that the reduced capacity might lead to some overcrowding at peak times.

ADL have supplied some E200MMCs to Nottingham Seems fleet will be fully euroVI (or equivalent), by next month Guess they have beaten TfL in upgrading by a few months ADL article Reading Buses (coincidentally another 100% municipally-owned operator) is also aiming to be fully euroVI by the end of this month. To be fair on TfL, they have had a somewhat bigger task!
