1. Under what circumstances could L.T. trams use trolleybus overhead? 2. Which was the only instance of the ENTIRE class of a type of London bus (not necessarily London Transport) being allocated to a garage with the same code as the class of bus. (The garage MAY not have been so coded at the time but it certainly was until closure in the 1980s). 3. At which Underground station did a L.T. bus driver at one time pay in his takings? 4. What denotes/denoted that an Underground station is closed for the day as you pass through by train. 5. At which garage did Holloway (J) crews pay in their takings?

A couple of slight modifications. (I do this in the library and am against the clock!) no. 2 The buses were originally allocated elsewhere but later were all operated from this one garage. no. 4 Apart from the lack of passengers and the fact that you don't stop!

1) Loss of conduit power/tram overhead failure? 2) GF at GF 3) Piccadilly Circus (by B & WD staff off the OLST) 4) White Board on the platform? 5) As far as I am aware they paid in at J, if not HT

OK it's put out of your misery time.
1. Yes, trams could use trolleybus overhead in an emergency. 2. Not too sure about Gilfords at GF (which would have been interesting!) I was thinking of the LGOC 'X' type - forerunner of the 'B' type - where the whole class was allocated to Middle Row (X). 3. The driver of the one GS on the 336A (who outstationed the bus at his home overnight) paid in his takings - and got his wages - from Rickmansworth stn. 4. Such stations would have half lights on (still the same as far as I know). 5. Highgate (HT).

GF's definitely operated out of Guilford, but not sure about the whole class. RE Q 4: Stations cannot have half lights on, its either 1/4 lights or 3/4 lights. In sub-surface stations 3 out of 4 lights are supplied from the LUL supply system, which used to be supplied from Lots Road, the 4th light comes off the street ( local supply). so either the LUL supply can be turned off giving 1/4 supply, or the street supplies giving 3/4 lights. As both supplies are now technically off the national grid, although from different supply points, all tube stations have been equipped with Off Line batteries (OLBI's) that cut in should BOTH sources of supply fail, these supply 1/4 lighting for up to an hour, replacing the street supply, allowing the safe evacuation and closure of the station.

Ok I stand corrected about half-lights. It's something someone told me back in the seventies.
