Sorry to revive an old thread, but I saw one of these VH's in service yesterday on a 267 and it stopped me dead in my tracks with its ugliness. I don't think you could say it's a design flaw because clearly the bus is functional, but geee that bus is hideous. The frog face comments are funny - that's exactly what it looks like. Froggy McFrogface. The front reminds me of a bit like when a kid decides to build something out of lego and has to improvise with whatever random parts they have in their set. In this case some lego bits for a Myllennium Vyking combined with some big red duplo bricks for the pillars. This has to be the ugliest bus in the history of London. I heard that if you look in the mirror and whisper "Streetdeck" 3 times, one will turn up on your local route.... I don't mind the actual design of the StreetDeck, other London operators' examples don't look too bad (with the black pillars). They look especially good with the glass pillars as seen in a few examples outside of London but they're a quirk we won't be seeing any time soon in the capital. I didn't like the look of them when the first photos were shown, but after seeing them in the flesh they've grown on me. Those pillars are a bit annoying when you're sitting at the front... However RATP's spec of red all over doesn't do the design any favours at all... If I was design director of London United I would bring the moquette back to the previous bubble one and make the pillars black on the Gemini 3s. ;D Anyways, there's to be another hydrogen double decker (one of the HEVs revived) coming on the 308 soon if the Gemini 3 is too ugly for you...

When you compare them to VH24-52 at Hounslow Heath it makes you wonder who signed the new design off Though I don't particularly like the look of them, they at least look better than both the LT & SRM. The Gemini3 & Streetdeck are nice inside though.

Man of the East Lancs buses in the 80's took this crown. Not to mention some of those Atlantean and Fleetline bodies in the 70's - No the crown goes to those ugly as 4k Volvo Ailsa's; what an abomination. No joke, I was sat here for the last 5 minutes thinking "4K Volvo Ailsa...never heard of that before?? Must be something from the early 70's". I even tried to google up a pic 😂 I rode a few Ailsa's while they were in service with Harrow buses. They were ugly and uncomfortable and if I remember they had a really crap internal configuration with seats facing each other. Still not as ugly as Ugly McUglybus aka Wright Streetdeck, but rear design on some Ailsa's are very weird. I quite like the Atlanteans...and the Daimler Fleetline is an all time classic. As a kid, I would always take a DMS on route 92 if faced with a choice of bus. On a head to head, I reckon the Wright Uglydeck beats DMS1 in the abomination stakes: flic.kr/p/GUmNmD The wright Gemini3 doesn't look good in pics but better in the flesh. The London United ones look crap, down to the headlight surrounds and upper deck front window area painted red. The Go Ahead London examples look so much better. The MCW body on the Fleetline was ok, although the rear didn't look all that on any of the versions.
Fooken Ailsa's were ewwww ewwww ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I don't remember Fooken as a bus operator Must have been a small outfit up North somewhere I do like the Ailsa's exhaust note - more the Voith than the manual that can get on your nerves Look at that, the Hydrogen decker is so interesting we're discussing Ailsa's and MCWs... It seems that after next year no operator in London can buy a straight-diesel bus anymore, and ALL LT's will be retrofitted with a Euro6 engine to reduce emissions, according to Buses mag

You guys make me laugh when going on about the infamous all red pillars. If its ugly, it's ugly. You can't make an ugly thing less ugly by using a different colour paint.

20-25 for London ... nice if it happens... Though never saw it in the release ... but with 3 other UK cities all so getting vehicles... that figure would give the UK a good chunk of that 144 ... anyone seen any breakdown of that figure?

Does anyone know what routes will these buses will be trialled on? I bet it will be the usual suspects i.e. 360, 507 and 521 😵

Sorry I was referring to this post when speculating where these buses would be deployed. Given the earlier discussion about the "Frogs" it's ironic that I'm on WHV151 (N1) as I type this. Such a terrible bus. Looks ugly from the outside and very narrow seats. My shoulders are overlapping into the seat next to me. For reference I'm only 72kg btw and not overweight. Who designed this thing? I would hate to be on this and actually sat next to someone!
