No not the sound of a decaying DLA experiencing impending death but the name of a new demand responsive minibus operation in Sittingbourne. It's operated by high quality spec Mercedes Minibuses which you book by smartphone. www.arrivabus.co.uk/arrivaclick/about-arrivaclick/Seems Kent is the new home of minibus based bus services.

Seems to be a hybrid of uber (book via phone), shared vehicles, and Turkish Dolmus (shared minibus running set routes) I could easily see the concept spreading to many regional towns. Away from the big cities difficult to run an economic service. In some parts of London £300000 buses basically carrying fresh air around for 90% of the day doesn't make sence either.

They have set up a sort of similar scheme in Ashford named 'little & often' using the same Mercedes Minibuses on routes B and C over there, which now run every 5 or 6 minutes. I wonder how successful it is.

Interesting that I read some anti Arriva sentiment in Dartford recently. Councillors in the Greenhithe , Swanscombe areas are having a pop at them and KCC for prioritising routes linking new estates rather than existing areas of social housing. The 455 was cut back recently , I think that is their main bug bear.
So I wonder whether this idea will spread. The mini cabs around this area are used more than the local buses services ( not including the sapphire & fastrack routes )

There is an article about this in the latest Buses magazine. Sittingbourne is a small town, so I wonder if this service will become popular. I hope it does, otherwise companies such as Uber will fill the gaps.
In the same magazine, there is also a news item about Mercedes Sprinter City 45 vehicles (the same as Stagecoach's in Ashford), on Guildford local route 3. With that route, the Sprinters are ordinary, with normal livery, and the frequency of the service has remained at every 20 mins.

The mini cabs around this area are used more than the local buses services ( not including the sapphire & fastrack routes ) The routes in Dartford / Gravesham that do best are the Sapphire routes and Fasttrack routes. The 489 delivers pretty decently between New Ash Green and Gravesend too. I hope the 455 and others don't suffer and these cuts aren't disguised by how relatively well these aforementioned services do. There are definitely gaps in the network here but the service is better than some areas - one noticeable gap is that Northfleet gets no link to Ebbsfleet International *rolls eyes*. If only I had my way with introducing new bus routes that come to my head
