Yes it's still fairly unique to be able to ride from Ilford right through the City to HC which does show the tfl have realised there is still demand from Stratford and beyond into the City by bus. As we have said before the 25 could easily have been slit in 2003/4 which the service from Ilford only going to Aldgate. Where I disagree most with the 25 change is that places close to town like Mile End, Whitechapel and Aldgate should have a proper west end link.

Which sadly under the current conditions will not happen. Especially if the pedestrianisation is persisted with we could still see the 98 cut to Marble Arch.

I do wonder how the 8 will cope when the 25 is cut back. Last time we had short 25s there was still the 242 and most other 25s carried on to Oxford Street. I can see this really going wrong a bit like the 343?? A few years ago were they had to introduce more buses as so many passengers were left behind

Tbh even with the priority measured watered down around Bow the 25 is actually still fairly quick. Completely ignore the ridiculously high journey times tfl give (may have been timetabled during the many diversions in the city, I don't know) but iv done many times Stratford to Oxo and it has taken taken 65 - 70 mins not the 94 mins given from Stratford Centre to Oxo. Also the many many 25s iv passed in the opposite direction has probably 95% of the time been heading to Ilford with so few turns. The running times aren't ridiculous - I've been on 25's that take forever and the two times I attempted to do it end to end from Ilford (one unsuccessful & one successful attempt) both had journey times of more than 70 minutes without too much traffic about.

If anything would put you off taking the 25 into town it's that journey time.

It's not just about the journey time it's more the broken links from east London too. Maybe I'm a tight git but I use buses into Central London instead of the tube sometimes and all these broken links will make it harder to complete trips in 60 mins.

So 70ish mins is pretty good for Ilford to Oxo. At Holles Street it's given as a whopping 122 mins.

That seems correct - don’t think it’s doable at 70 minutes (unless late at night). I remember having seen it at just under 2 hours during peak times and between 90-110 minutes in off peak
