I live in Walthamstow and noticed there is a bus stop (Stop Y) on Hoe Street permanently closed on the road bridge above the Overground Chingford Line. I've lived in the area for 5 years and *never* once seen any buses call at it, I'm surprised it's remained intact with shelter for so long. Hopefully this Google Maps link should work... goo.gl/maps/oYsJ7oHujNsI haven't ventured along that part of Hoe Street for a while, so don't know if the Selborne Junction road remodelling have removed it. What was it's previous use? T.Y --- Chris Date | CMPDTwitter: twitter.com/cmpd_date

Most likely used for when the bus station is shut? Is the right answer. I have seen it used in precisely those circumstances. Caters for the few cross Walthamstow services that run along Hoe St. There was an "informal" stop in the opposite direction by the newsagents on the bridge (now being rebuilt as a "plaza") which catered for n/b services.

Similar to the stops in Millennium Way at North Greenwich that are only used when the bus station is closed.

What was it's previous use? T.Y --- CMPD | Chris Date Twitter: twitter.com/cmpd_dateI am quite sure that this bus stop has been removed and was removed before the temporary redesign of the gyratory. Did I say temporary ... The Council had planned to undertake a comprehensive consultation during Summer 2017 however during the planning process, more information became available which identified impacts on the wider road network and other parts of the town centre which we had not anticipated.
As a result, the Council has decided to put the planned consultation on hold until we have assessed all impacts and made sure all the developments, current and planned, are considered. This will reduce the potential for costly abortive woks and ensure that the changing dynamic of the town centre is fully considered in future proposals.
Once a full assessment of all the influencing factors on the town centre has been undertaken we will provide opportunities for businesses, residents and road users to have their say and help shape the finals of this important scheme. The new consultation period will ensure that the borough is able to maximise the benefits of the scheme while still enabling growth and change in the local area to take place.
The longer term proposals will include a new area of public space that will make it easier to move between Walthamstow Central station and bus stations, and a new bridge over the railway line creating a simpler road layout for all road users. There will also be more trees and plants, an improved bus station with better positioned bus stops, new pedestrian crossings and more cycle spaces.By the way as I think I have mentioned before the combination of the 'better positioned stops' and the excitement from councillors at the prospect of buses avoiding the bus station, there is a possibility the stop returns. I would not mind the 357 becoming 'express' and avoiding the station, it would give it the unique factor from the 97. Although the 357 is unique in its own way as it is serves bus stop E instead of D

Although the 357 is unique in its own way as it is serves bus stop E instead of D Oh help - only in Waltham Forest do you spend millions and then realise part way through that what you're doing might not work. How moronic can the Council get. They should have left the entire thing alone. There is no way at all that you can redesign or rebuild the bus station without it costing an utter fortune and there is no money for it. All this nonsense about "better positioned bus stops" too. What are they wittering on about. As soon as you remove services from the bus station you create disbenefits for people who live on common sections of route who will be forced to choose between separate stops or walk to the first common stop (at the top of the Market / High St). What they are basically admitting is that their proposal to remove the bus lane for access to the bus station, the narrowed Selborne Road and their botched junction redesign are incompatible with the planned redevelopment of the shopping centre and part of the Town Square. Can you imagine how on earth they could build that redevelopment with all the attendant lorry movements on Selborne Road? We can wave goodbye to half of our bus services for years while that happens because they'll be in utter chaos. They should scrap that hideous redevelopment too while they're on about it. Utterly out of place and unnecessary.
