T201 51598+51599 formed the first passenger train from Battersea Power Station at 05.28 this morning Was pretty full from the photos I've seen Apparently there were around 100 people there for the first journey. It was mixture of enthusiasts, TfL staff and journalists.

I personally do not see what the big deal is about the Northern Line extension. The way the press said there has not been anything on the Underground since the Jubilee line extension is rubbish, what about the Piccadilly Line to Terminal 5? I also do not find the Northern line extension value for money. Costing near £2 billion for 2 stations and it is not even 3 miles long is shocking. If you compare crossrail tunnels and new trains costing around near £20 billion, which has far more stations, it really makes the NLE seem a rip off. Northern line extension: Two new Tube stations open www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-58621491

I was using the northern today in central London and the nee map looks funny above the seats
You now have a scenario where the line goes from zone 1 into zone 1/2 for Kennington and then back into zone 1 for the 2 nee stops. It looks very odd - wonder why they couldn’t have kept the 2 stations in zone 1 and had the line going the “wrong way”

It looks very odd - wonder why they couldn’t have had the 2 new stations looping back into section 1 Battersea Park Station which is walking distance from Battersea Power Station Station is in Zone 2 so that would be rather odd to have two stations nearly next to each other in different zones. Nine Elms has a more mixed demographic by the station as Wandsworth Road is not anywhere near full of the plush apartments like Nine Elms Lane and Battersea Park Road are so maybe that played a part into why Nine Elms is in Zone 2?

This is 'partially' why the line at this stage ends at Battersea and not further on into Clapham Junction. The local residents and trade already in the Nine Elms and Battersea areas just happen to be fortunate that the tube extension benefits them as well. I do wonder if the Terminal 5 project has been somewhat omitted² by the press deliberately to big up the NLE, especially with not a single news channel correctly mentioning the Piccadilly Line's 2008 extension. Thankfully Geoff Marshall at least includes that factor in his video. ¹ - The United States Embassy, etc ² - either way a bit of an insult to everyone involved in that project

Just took a trip on the line and my goodness the infrastructure looks magnificent. It sucks that it's in Zone one but other than that its all good.

They've done a good job with the two stations, similar to Terminal 5 in terms of spacious and not dingy unlike the Jubilee extension ones between North Greenwich & Westminster. One thing I noticed was the new tunnel's cause the trains to be much louder than the older tunnels and even louder than the Jubilee's extension tunnels.

I did see quite a few TFL representatives around the station and some enthusiasts as well. The waiting time did seem a bit long but I suppose this is what they can manage for now.

When that was done it did not have anywhere near the fanfare for the NLE extension opening. In my opinion the extension should have gone further to Clapham Junction which would have been more logical. The amount the investors coughed up for the extension is peanuts compared to the total price.

I think the Northern Line connection to Clapham Junction would've made the line too popular as the line is currently limited to operate 24tph aswell exceeding the maximum PTR that would likely require new rolling stocks for the line. It was said that the extension would've not happen until Crossrail 2 is at least built utilising relive from the South West Lines.

AFAIK, the extension was fully funded privately so not where this ‘peanuts’ stuff is coming from
