A bit of a random few questions but ones that have always interested me , most Routemaster operated routes up until the late 90s only used RM's on Monday to Saturdays and not in the evenings , so were drivers and conductors on a 5 day rota with the Saturday as overtime ? Or did everybody on a RM rota work 6 days a week and no Sundays ? Were the EU domestic driving hours in use back in the late 80s ? Were Drivers always paired up with the same conductors ? And does anybody have any old duty cards or rotas from the late 80's early 90's ? would be really interesting to see to compare to nowadays .

I'm not able to answer most of your questions, but I'll have a go at a couple. No, EU domestic driving hours didn't apply in the late '80s; no, drivers weren't always paired up with the same conductors, particularly when a garage still operated two or three crew routes, but they could ask to be e.g. there were at one time many married couples as crews, although I never heard of one where the wife was the driver! Norwood had the highest preponderance of these back in the 1960s, as I have a London Transport Magazine, produced for staff, from the period featuring some of them, on routes recognisable today like the 137 and the 3. More (!) recently there is a video on YouTube featuring the last day of crew operation on the 8 at Bow, heavily featuring a husband and wife crew who operated the last journey, and they revealed they'd been working together on the buses for decades. Sorry, I'm useless at links, but if I found it easily enough you'll be able to. Hope that's a little useful.

However, at RA it was simpler - every weekend off! Moz

My Partner was a 73 driver on the RMLs (and later the bendies at AR and LV) at Tottenham. In the 00s if you were a crew driver you could go and work Sundays at Clapton on the 38s as their RMLs worked on Sundays
I have got a 00s Crew timecard and a 2010 bendybus timecard for the 73's I can upload to Flickr if your interested.

Yes please that would be great , just find it interesting seeing how things worked back then and how traffic has drastically changed in the last 10/20 years .
