Soeaking to the trainees at stagecoach london and one of them said they have to do a dbs before starting? Not sure if this is correct as ive never heard of this before and ive never had one? Everyone knows there is a huge shortage in the industry. Apparently they are taking forever to process applications and people are losing faith. And they wonder why nobody wants to do the job. Sad sign of the times

Sad sign of the times DBS checks take 2 - 3 weeks to come back. Guess they don't want to take the risk of investing too much in training only to find out they candidate has previous convictions.
My job requires DBS checks and my employer has been caught out a few times having to let a new recruits go after few weeks and then spending another couple of £1000 running adverts and starting the whole process again.

Starting procedure's come a long way from many moons back. With one firm from back in the day the interview was almost literally a case of,
" Do you have a PCV licence? "
" Yes "
" Can you start later today? "
