Passed through Gospel Oak twice today and saw 710226 in the bay platform on both occasions. The GOBLIN was closed today so I wonder what it was doing there.

Didn’t realise the GOBLIN was closed today. Perhaps that’s why the Watford-Euston route seemed to be 4tph today (as more trains were available), and I finally got my first ride on a 710!

It's not unusual for TOC's to outstable units, Arriva Rail London outstable a number of 378's at Euston for their first services to Stratford which require a reversal at Queens Park. LNER outstable some of their trains to operate the first services out of Kings Cross on a weekday morning. I suspect with the unit in the bay and the possession on the GOBLIN, the train's pantograph would of been lowered and the train batteried off (aux'd off), completely dead.

How was your first time on a 710? Very nice! Not sure I'm a fan of the new super-simple announcements (because they don't announce interchange options when you arrive at a station), but I'm a fan of the train itself. I expected it to be cold after what I'd heard, but was actually warm haha. I was able to get a seat too despite it being a 4-car train.

When i first travelled on them in the summer it was freezing inside the carriage and if you got off you will be shaking with 25+ degrees outside it was funny in a way. Comfort wise i am not keen on but when the trains move its very smooth much better than a 172

Not sure it'll help if peak time how there's less standing space by the doors too (seats continue closer to the doors now), but we'll see.

What are the current 710 diagrams on the Watford line? According to another forum, the following diagram is guaranteed to be a 710 (due to driver training (ecs)): From Watford: 0629 0829 1031 ecs 1231 ecs 1431 ecs 1631 1831 2031 From Euston: 0727 0928 1128 ecs 1328 ecs 1528 ecs 1727 1927 But the other two* 710s could run on any diagram. *The total number of 710s running on the DC was allegedly increased to 3 as of today.
