There's a chance for some rare London Overground track bashing this weekend - Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July. There is no service between Richmond/Shepherd's Bush and Gospel Oak. However there will be a special service between Willesden Junction Low level and Stratford calling at Kensal Rise, Queens Park, Kilburn High Road, South Hampstead then to Camden Road via the Primrose Hill line that is not normally traversed by passenger trains. (normal route and stops between Camden Road and Stratford). Rail replacement buses will operate between Gunnersbury and Camden Road calling at or near all stations. Use the District Line between Richmond and Gunnersbury, and buses 220 or 228 between Shepherds Bush and Willesden Junction. www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/unusual-london-overground-trips-possible-this-weekend-64211/Diversion via Primrose Hill was only in operation on Saturday. It’s not in operation today, probably due to Engineering work reducing capacity in:out of Euston, meaning one service per hour spins at Kilburn High Road from Watford. Semi-related note, trains operating on the GOBLIN returning to Willesden TMD have to undertake a very circuitous route from Gospel Oak to Willesden TMD.

Now that the West Anglia lines are part of London Overground, would it perhaps make more sense to base the Goblin trains at Ilford instead? Would just need to reverse trains at Forest Gate to access Barking.

Just had a look at Real Time Trains & it appears the last one from Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside outstables on the platform at Riverside to perform the first one in the morning. 2 come from Willesden TMD, 1 goes to Barking reverses at Woodgrange Park and then onto Riverside; 1 unit comes from East Ham depot. For a forest gate reversal you’d have to introduce bi-di signalling and a Limit of shunt sign / signal, in that case you may as well send them to Stratford. Operationally, I think it makes sense to keep as is. Also reduces costs with a depot or link of drivers having to sign a new route & keep up with route retention, something the DFT are trying to minimise on.

Trying to solve an puzzle, I got the penultimate westbound service at Green Lanes last week, it terminated at Gospel Oak & then went into the goods loop at Upper Holloway, trying to see if the couple up & return to Willesden together.

Aside from the booked moves in:out of the Low Level Bay, last week it was in use most days, due to signal failures at Kensington Olympia & Points run through at Richmond. That troublesome Bakerloo Unit caused further delay gapping trying to enter Stonebridge depot after failing at Wembley Central.

Not sure how rare this is but a London Overground train terminated at platform 11 at Stratford on Tuesday afternoon. I know some trains are scheduled to use this platform but not sure what times.
