Totally different to the Oyster style "touch in" type of reader and considerably slower. Involves QR coded tickets. Same machine used on Arriva, First and Yorkshire Tiger BUT a "Metro Weekender" valid on all operators' services can only be read on the buses of the operator who issued the ticket. An Arriva issued ticket will not "read" on a First bus but is totally valid.

That sounds like a Ticketer machine, the same problem with ticket scanning exists here on Intalink Explorer/Discovery tickets issued by different operators, so difficult trying to explain to a driver that yes the ticket is valid despite not being recognised by the scanner!

I know First West Yorkshire use the same ticket machines as what Metrobus recently implemented where you can scan a phone or QR code to use as a ticket. Yorkshire Tiger still use the old ticket machines which Metrobus used to use which do not support mobile and QR code tickets, I have no idea what they're called though so apologies!

The newer ones are Ticketer machines and the older ones are Vix Machines
