But "New Routemaster" is the official name of the bus I know that but i just hate that they are called "New Routemasters' They are a kind of successor to the Routemaster in the sense they *could* be hop on and hop off. Quite frankly in that sense we have been sold a dud in that they are not used in that manner and now probably never will be again.
The RM is the iconic London bus, much more so than the RT. The LT isn't iconic - yet - and may well (probably) will never be.
That said I quite like the LT, but as many have said has its issues, which really should have been addressed properly.

If they still had the open platform at the rear then possibly they could be classed as "New Routemasters" or RMs what ever you like to call them if they had proper conductors or even CSAs (like they had before) there would be less fare aviation then there is now and could be a icon like the RT/RM. But i do agree that the LTs won't be as iconic as the RT/RMs once was

I would love it if the rear platform on the LT was hop on-hop off. It would have saved me so much of my life which I've wasted sitting in traffic on the Strand. The loss of open boarding though is a disgrace, and an absoloute joke.

The storm troopers with their high viz jackets, clip boards and well worn copies of the HSE manual will outnumber the passengers. Not to say the more criminally minded populus who have 'compensashun' on speed dial.

What a bad day for all things Boris!
I wonder what would happen about warranty work in the future if they go bust! I wonder if Wright are / were going to be involved in the refurbishment of the LT's.

Maybe ADL could help with refurbs?

Maybe ADL could help with refurbs? I think ADL would want to look after their own buses first but I guess there's no reason why it can't happen.

Most people couldn't tell and RT from an RM and the RM has gained more popularity for that fact it was the last main crew operated bus in major London service. As I have said before, many tourists and non enthusiasts couldn't tell the difference and in some cases just think it is the British double decker as being an icon instead of the RM itself.

I believe they had a contract to refurbish the LT's.

Wow so Wrightbus actually made it onto the Radio 1 News just now. Didn’t think a bus manufacturer would make it onto a news bulletin that prolific. It said words to the effect of they are on the verge of going into administration after severe financial troubles, with the potential it could happen today.
I mean I know that Wrightbus losing some custom because of the poor quality seemed like a bit of a downer for the company, but it’s just incredible how quickly it all spiralled out of control. As others have said things must have been much worse behind the scenes than what made the headlines.
As much as I dislike the Gemini 3 I really do hope Wrightbus pull through, a huge company with a rich history, one of Britain’s last (if not the last if you discount ADL now) bus manufacturers. I’m sure if it does they’ll do their best to learn their lesson pretty quickly. I don’t wish to draw attention to this but today is my birthday and I don’t want it to also have the honour of being the day such a huge and successful British bus manufacturer collapses! 🙏
