Thought it would be easier to simplify any news from any of the First companies into one thread - so post any news or discussion regarding First Group here.

This means they have no completely withdrawn from Clacton/Walton-on-the-Naze and effectively surrendered to Go Ahead owned Hedingham, who have presumably taken over the 7/8/99/100 now, having recently also taken a few other First routes around Clacton.
Also as of tomorrow 7 new DDs should go into service on the slightly rebranded AirCoach X30.

Saw pics of these on flickr I think it was - the blue livery looks very nice and personally better than the current black livery that was on the Enviro 200 MMC's (they've received the new blue livery as well I believe). I think the X10 is being branded as well?

First Kernow are losing all their work tendered by Cornwall Council from March 29th. Go Cornwall Buses, a subsidiary of Go-Ahead owned Plymouth Citybus, are taking it all, a contract lasting for the next eight years if all goes to plan, which is not a cast iron certainty.

I have seen on another forum that apparently National Express are going to buy the First Aircoach operations in Ireland. This would therefore see First exit the Irish bus market.

I have seen no mention of the Sunday 76 and evening 74B which i believe are ECC contracts so perhaps First will still have a very small presence into Clacton?

They may have still got them - but on the whole, compared to their original monopoly on the area, they virtually have no presence there anymore. Its funny how things can change in just a few years - only a few years ago Clacton was mainly First run.

A lot of them are now in Bath / Wells too. Saw 667 and 721 in the Bath depot on Friday; the 33831-840/857 batch are replacing B9s and B7RLE Eclipses at Wells depot for the Mendip Explorer routes (plus the ridiculous decision of having Streetdecks allocated on the 376, now thankfully reversed....). Plenty of others on their way for the permanent allocation of deckerised Bath City routes 3/4 (perhaps the 1 soon too) and/or the U2/5/6 services for the Unis.

First restructures South Yorkshire and Midlands divisions to be merged as First South Yorkshire & Midlands.
Would have thought that South Yorkshire would be merged with West Yorkshire if First wants to restructure South Yorkshire to make a one big Yorkshire division instead.
