Spicy. I’m all for unions campaigning for better working conditions, but I can’t help but think this could be counterproductive. Revenue is down due to COVID, TfL have no money. Increasing operational costs at a time when revenue has fallen drastically could mean fewer jobs for drivers in the future. I guess Unite will have done their calculations and figured that on balance if their pay demands are met it won’t have a significant impact on employment rates to the extent that it creates a surplus of trained drivers.

I am not gonna hold in my pee just because I feel sorry to TFL loss of profits, lack of toilets is BIG deal, and the whole '1' toilet on each end to me at least is a joke, especially in London where one one trip you can spend 2+ hrs just dying for toilet and can't do nothing about it until you get to one end which does have the toilet.
Not to mention zero hour contracts threatening industry as well, my biggest fear is that they will flop on this vote.

Many of the so called conditions have been raised for years by Unite but they just sit on their ass with them until it suits them or they want to play political football. it is a shame and one of the reasons why many have left the Unite union over the years. A pay rise I think is unwarranted after the loss with Covid to the industry and pay rises last year and this year I cannot see that happening imo.

I hate the zero hours contracts idea for anything, but the trouble is people still go for it even when there are normal contracts available due to flexibility at times with certain lifestyles. I can only see a very small minority of bus drivers who may not get part time going for that, I really do not see drivers going for it.
