Still, for an 18 year old like me a journey from Uxbridge to Finchley Road costs the exact same as if I was to do 1 stop within Zones 2-6. Interesting to note that Tfl have also reduced the hopper fare times from 70 minutes to 62 minutes. Very sneaky!

From 10 minutes originally... they could've at least told us that

That's the whole point, if you make it a 62 minute fare on the TfL website then people will expect it to be a 62 minute tap in. So if someone is 30 seconds after 62 minutes, they'll probably attempt to fight it out. However TfL can now claim they were 2min 30 late as it's 60min on the website.

I noticed this, as the bus single fare is £1.55 but the single Underground fare for journeys outside zone 1 (at least in Greater London) just £1.50.

From what you say this must have changed in March.

That journey is now £1.60 for travelling across 2 zones. That's a good example. I also got fooled because I travelled from Leytonstone to Stratford in May, entirely zone 3, and it was still £1.50.

Don’t know if changed recently but it’s the same with peak period where there is also leeway. The peak period actually starts 5 minutes later and finishes 3 minutes earlier than advertised. Officially the peak periods are 6:30-9:30 and 16:00-19:00 but in reality the peak period is 6:35-9:27 and 16:05-18:57
