Central line to take over the Greenford branch of the GWR? That would look a little weird with the Central lines intersecting again at Greenford. Not that weird considering it happens at the other end of the central line at Woodford Care needs to be taken with any scheme to convert the Greenford Branch, as it is still a diversion route for Chiltern Railways and there is a daily "route learning" trip over the branch.

Some more ideas to eliminate diesel passenger trains in the London area:
- Electrify Chiltern Railways, prioritising the London end so that electric and bi-mode trains can operate in the London area at the earliest opportunity. I would suggest electrifying in stages with Marylebone to Aylesbury via both routes commissioned first. Chiltern would need a small fleet of dual-voltage trains to operate on the third rail between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham.
- Convert the GWR Maidenhead-Marlow, Slough-Windsor & Eton Central and Twyford-Henley branches to an electrified DLR-style light railway with driverless trains. Investigate the possibility of additional stops.
- Convert the Greenford branch to single-line for National Rail use and electrify. The other line would be repurposed for a segregated West Ealing-Greenford shuttle which again could be DLR-style.
- Bi-mode trains for South Western Railway's London Waterloo-Exeter route.

Some more ideas:
- Complete replacement of the Cross-Country Voyager and HST fleet with new Hitachi bi-modes, and a small fleet of dual voltage bi-modes (are these tri-modes?) to operate the Manchester-Bournemouth route. These would have more carriages and seats than the Voyagers they would replace and would be able to operate in electric mode on electrified lines.
- Rolling programme to electrify more routes that are not yet electrified, including Birmingham-Bristol-Plymouth, the Hants & Berks line between Newbury and Cogload Junction (Taunton) and the Midland main Line through to Leeds. If Reading to Basingstoke were electrified the Manchester-Bournemouth units could be all-electric (dual voltage) and not require diesel capacity at all.
- Reinstatement of the entire London and South Western Railway route between Exeter and Plymouth (Exeter-Okehampton is scheduled to open later this year), but intended as a local route and route for emergency diversions rather than rebuilt to main line standards. If too much property demolition would be required in Tavistock it could switch to the formation of the former GWR Launceston-Plymouth line somewhere around Lydford and run into Plymouth via Marsh Mills.

Interest rates are on the floor and Governments can issue Bonds at very attractive rates with very long repayment dates. The investment would create jobs (a rolling programme of electrification and green energy would create industries with exportable skills) and the increased spending would benefit the economy and raise more tax revenue. Short-termism, a focus on profits and shareholder dividends and lack of investment is the "British disease" and one reason why so much of our infrastructure is poor and our industries uncompetitive.

Would be nice if the Greenford branch trains went as far as Ealing Broadway - there's not really much in West Ealing in terms of transport links. Don't think this is possible though.

It's not - there isn't enough capacity on the main line to run the trains through and detraining/shunting at Ealing Broadway could delay other services. Also the frequency would need to be reduced due to the increased journey time. The Greenford trains were pulled out of Paddington so its paths could be used to operate the new Hayes & Harlington electrics - eight-car trains in place of two-car. I suspect GWR and National Rail would be quite happy to withdraw the Greenford service completely but politically that would be unacceptable.

Such a service could replace the Salisbury-Southampton via Eastleigh and the Southampton-Bournemouth-Poole stopping services. The service would have to be diesel-operated though over a route that is largely electrified, unless SWR were to source some bi-mode trains - not an impossible ask as they could also replace the 159s on Waterloo-Exeter and eliminate diesel traction into Waterloo.

Probably my first actually good idea judging by the response on my custom bus routes (although I think a route going through All Souls Avenue, Elgin Avenue and St John's Wood Road is a good idea.

Perhaps they could order some 756s from Stadler.

Said this before.
Connect London Overground at New Cross to Mainline this could open 8tph increase of 4 to Dartford, Orpington and maybe Bromley North.
Service from Gillingham, Peckham Rye/East Dulwich to Brighton.
