Network Rail has now decided on its planned upgrade of Peckham Rye Station. The options ranged from a minimal spend to a large rebuild; Network Rail has settled for a middle option.
The booking hall will be extended at the rear and a new west-facing entrance added. There will be additional staircases and lift access to all platforms. An option to replace the narrow island platforms 1 & 2 with separate side platforms was ruled out on grounds of cost.
Network Rail will prepare planning consents for submission towards the end of the year, and plans to make a funding submission in Spring 2022 if planning consent is granted.
In a separate but related project, Southwark Council is proceeding with the demolition of buildings in front of the station, to create a new landscaped public square and to reveal the frontage of the Grade II Listed station building in its full glory.

They were never going to build side platforms given it’s the same issue with building Overground stations at Loughborough Junction, East Brixton or Brixton, costly to build on a elevated section of track.

Is this actually funded or in the same unfunded bucket as the Norwood Junction upgrade?

Is this actually funded or in the same unfunded bucket as the Norwood Junction upgrade? It's currently unfunded, Network Rail will apply for the funding once planning consent is granted.
