263: WOW. The 263 has certainly been an interesting route to see since the changes took place 3 weeks ago. Not only has the 263 already been diverted back down its old line of route through Highgate owing to works round Dartmouth Park Hill/Highgate Hill, but it has seen some very interesting changes in demand. The 263 has got noticeably busier up the Holloway Road, picking up all the slack from the 271 and it helping the 143 out between Archway and East Finchley, however I have noticed when boarding at Highbury & Islington Station towards Barnet Hospital, even during the off-peak, that the bus already has a good number of passengers onboard. Whether I've not been paying attention before the changes to have noticed this, I have no clue, but it seems the 263 is already relatively well filled for what I would consider to be quite a useless "stub" of a section to the Barn. However, the 263 has had a massive issue - a copious number of curtailments and gaps in service. I have seen plenty of 263s turned at Archway, Holloway Nags Head and East Finchley since the changes, which could be attributed to increased dwell times as a result of there being less buses per hour between Nags Head and Archway. I'm not so sure I could attribute any traffic through the Village to the increase in the number of curtailments across the route, especially as the A1 would regularly jam up between Bakers Lane and Highgate Station towards Archway and from Langdon Park Road to Bakers Lane towards Finchley. I don't quite know what the solution is here, but I certainly wouldn't be advocating for a cut. I still need answers as to why so many 263s have been curtailing to Archway and Holloway. It's hardly ever this bad even if there are roadworks. Even today I've been seeing so many 263s getting curtailed. It can't be just because of the roadworks in Highgate Village. The traffic isn't even that bad. The new timetables for the 143, 234 and 263 make zero sense to me as well. There is far less time to do a full trip on the 263 for example on the new timetable than the old one.

I noticed a few days ago lots of 263s curtailing at Barnet Church as well - I wonder whether this is an adverse effect of Dartmouth Park Hill being closed temporarily? This is very worrying, especially if it’s not due to reopen until July.

Notice recently the 184 frequency has been reduced too.

I was walking on the A1 between Archway and Highgate this morning, and I noticed that the 143 is not serving the A1, neither are there any 143 tiles on Archway Road. Did they decide not to remove the 143 from Highgate Village, and was there residents objections to this? It's funny because they proposed the 143 to go down Archway Road and now they got the 234 instead and the 143 and 263 now both serve Highgate Village

It was partly due to lack of a common stop at Archway for the 210 and proposed 263 re route aswell as loss of links to Whittington Hospital and points north of East Finchley thou I would have thought would have been out of the Whittington catchment area. In effect the same number of buses between Highgate Village and Archway was maintained despite probably not needing that many and less money saved as the 234 now needed to be extended to Archway

Only thing is that there isnt a route on Archway Road beyond East Finchley, presumably people would take a 263 and then change buses or take the northern line from East Finchley
