I wonder if they could temporarily move the 1973 stocks to run on the Bakerloo Line then? The 73 stock cars are longer than the Bakerloo's 72 stock and thus won't fit around curves like the one at Waterloo Station. Interesting hopefully they find funding for a add on order even if a few trains just to cover Queens Pk-Elephant of the 73s are life expired and having problems now keeping them running surely the 72s must be aswell ? , Failing that if it were me in charge I'd cut the Uxbridge branch back so trains stop at Rayner's Lane and have the frequency reduced to every 20 mins and use some of the new trains for the Bakerloo ?

There won't be space to run a full peak 5 minute timetable if curtailed back to Rayners Lane. The only reason 3tph continue off-peak to Uxbridge is to run the timetable which is 6tph and further 6tph starting in Rayners Lane.

Could any of the other existing tube stock fit along the Bakerloo, for example the 96 stock if the Jubilee were to eventually get new trains?

If that were to happen they'd be run as 6 car. I think the Northern line may have been able to use 7 car 1972 stock but now uses 6 car 1995 stock.

The seven car 72 stock were all new to the Northern Line, including the ones presently on the Bakerloo Line.

Would there be the existing trains serving into the 2030s?

That is the current plan, as no funding is available for anything beyond the Piccadilly

So going by this article the new 2024 stock will run on the ageing signalling system until funding comes available 😮 , does this mean on the shared District Sections trains will run Auto ? And what happens if the 72 stock is no longer fit to be run ? I can't see the trains lasting that much longer to be fair

The District and Piccadilly are now separated until Acton Town-Hanger Lane junction. The District will be CBTC until Stamford Brook. New co-acting signals are being installed across the Piccadilly, which just repeat the existing signals but are placed to be seen from the 2024 Stock cab.

They look impressive, saw a segment on ITV news about it too... the current stock has done well for the past 50 years There's a mild refurb of the 92 stock on the Central line, new traction motors.

Looks really impressive, although the "floating" sections will take a bit of getting used to
