They look impressive, saw a segment on ITV news about it too... the current stock has done well for the past 50 years There's a mild refurb of the 92 stock on the Central line, new traction motors. Hard to believe trains like the 95 and 96 built after the 92 have had full refurb yet the 92 is only just getting it's first proper refurbishment!
I hope the new Piccadilly stock is better than the S stock which IMO is looking pretty rundown internally already.

Waiting for the Geoff Marshall video as no doubt he has been out there to see the new 2024 stock one of the best informative video crrators on public transport . As for the Central line it's a bit crazy how long it's taken for a refurb bar new seats when the Central is one of the most used lines with the trains doing more mileage aswell compared to the Jubilee and Northern , TfL - Every journey matters

I hope the new Piccadilly stock is better than the S stock which IMO is looking pretty rundown internally already. I wonder if the 92 stock was initially left untouched as they had planned to replace them some years ago. Although finally they would be done. Although the price being near 1/3rd of the price of what new Piccadilly line trains would cost, makes you wonder if it was worth it. It would be a shame to have spend that money and they do not get 10+ years in service.

I hope the new Piccadilly stock is better than the S stock which IMO is looking pretty rundown internally already. The earliest S8s are now over 13 years old - they’re doing OK considering the punishment they get. Hardly run down - that’s hyperbole.

Some seating is extremely threadbare.

I suspect that's the case as everything deep level except for the Victoria, Jubilee & Northern was expected to receive the New Tube for London stock and the Central Line wasn't the final line to convert either (think Bakerloo & Waterloo & City were after it from memory). I suspect given the funding issues, the Central stock may do another 10 years given nothing it still on the horizon beyond the Piccadilly Line in 2025 and the Bakerloo will likely be bumped up the list if funding becomes available given it's stock is passed life expectency.

The seats are worn out, mainly the back to back ones where idiots put their feet on them.

The Jubilee line also managed to insert itself into the prospective funding list at one point as well for New stock. In order to increase frequencies and divert its trains to the Northern Line.

The Piccadilly Line will be suspended between Acton Town and Heathrow Airport from Saturday 10th until Wednesday 14th February inclusive. The five-day closure will allow a complicated set of points at the entrance/exit to Northfields Depot to be replaced. The replacement is not a like-for-like renewal and is also taking place in a constrained site, hence the extended closure. Passengers travelling to and from Heathrow Airport are advised to use Elizabeth Line and Heathrow Express services wherever possible. Replacement buses will operate between Acton Town and Heathrow Airport, Central Bus Station extending to Terminal 5 at night. Non-stop coaches will also operate between Hammersmith and Heathrow Airport, Central Bus Station. Trains will continue to operate between Acton Town and Cockfosters, and also to and from Uxbridge. www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/tfl-warning-about-a-5-day-closure-of-the-piccadilly-line-to-heathrow-airport-70000/
