From 30th January Stagecoach are introducing changes to some routes out of Kettering garage “to improve your journey”.Route 2 Kettering Tesco to Corby goes from half hourly to hourly.Route 49 Wellingborough to Kettering(via Irchester,Rushden,Higham Ferrers,Ithlingborough,Finedon & Burton Latimer)is being withdrawn between Rushden & Kettering, route 50 will be diverted via Higham to compensate.I fail to see how doubling headways & cutting a route in half “improves” your journey.

It means that the journeys that are being advertised will actually run.

Still think it will turn people off using the bus.Another thing I don’t understand with Stagecoach, routes 47 & 48 run hourly between Kettering & Wellingborough Monday to Friday, but on Saturday the busiest shopping day of the week, they run 2 hourly.

People are more likely to be turned off using buses if the advertised journeys frequently fail to turn up. At least a reduced service that can be operated reliably gives passengers some certainty.
This is a problem being faced up and down the country (it is by no means unique to Stagecoach in Kettering) and is partly due to delays in being able to train drivers to replace those who have left, including delays in getting licences from the DVLA. The situation is being exacerbated by the numbers of drivers who are having to self-isolate due to covid, even when they themselves are not ill.
