Consultation update 13 June 2022
From 10 February to 24 March 2022 we held a public consultation exercise on our proposal to permanently withdraw the Friday and Saturday only overnight services on bus route 145 (referred to as N145 for the purposes of the consultation to avoid confusion with the day service, where we are not proposing any changes).
The N145 service was withdrawn in the spring of 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and continues to be so, however, prior to the pandemic passenger numbers were lower than we expected.
We received 109 responses and would like to thank everyone who took part.
You can find our consultation report, including our responses to issues raised during the consultation in the 'Documents' section.
Having carefully considered the feedback received we have decided to proceed with our proposals as set out in the consultation and the N145 service will be permanently withdrawn, enabling us to use our resources more efficiently and provide the right capacity on our bus services where it is most needed.
We keep our day and night bus networks under review and take steps to address changes in demand where necessary.

The usual sugar coated political correct BS from TfL written above.

I didn't realise until recently just how infrequent trains ran on the night service.

I didn't realise until recently just how infrequent trains ran on the night service. I wouldn't say they were fully pointless. 123, 145, 154, 319 for example, even if it was just for 2 nights it was nice that the weekend routes could at least give some less served areas nightime links. Compared to the x30 night buses the night tube frequences aren't that bad apart from the outer ends of the Central Line

Especially compared to the speed benefit on the bus.

At what point do we stop cutting and actually try to generate demand which in turn brings in revenue

The 123 especially I'd expect to have had lots of passengers that weren't even using the night tube but were simply using the bus from Wood Green/Tottenham to Walthamstow/Ilford. Worrying that we are now seeing the weekend night network under threat

There is a question about if night services are needed at all, many country towns don’t have them and people manage without them. A lot of the night tube usage wasn’t additional journeys, it just moved the time some people travelled. But if going to have night journeys then the biggest mistake was not making midnight the cut off for daily journeys, anyone who chooses to return early hours of following day and should have been part of next days ticket and fare cap. Would have helped cover the extra cost
