I don't, I hope it spectacularly fails - I prefer humans to drive vehicles that aren't on rails.

This is slightly more than misleading as it will be the first electric self driving bus. The vehicles mentioned it the sky report, will work alongside the existing diesel self-autonomous vehicles based on the E200, know as the Enviro200AV. They are needed as the route the current vehicles are used upon is being extended to nearly 20 miles long. Probably a more accurate article can be found in route-one. www.route-one.net/news/cavforth2-to-grow-autonomous-bus-work-in-scotland/

It should be remembered that the Pilot Busway in Greenwich was supposed to be a trial for buses being steered by a cable under the road surface.
It never happened.

I don't, I hope it spectacularly fails - I prefer humans to drive vehicles that aren't on rails. Something like the Cambridge Busway would be an excellent place to put autonomous buses; pretty remote and not integrated with any other road users. I do share your concerns though if this were to be trialled in a public setting. Uber has been trialling out driverless cars in southern states in America for over a decade now, unfortunately with fatal consequences.
