Police can't even identify the rising number of car thefts and tool thefts not enough police and underfunded, I've always noticed or did when I was younger around 2003 that this seemed to happen more on outer suburban routes more than inner London routes used to annoy me that the 165 in Romford had nice new Caetano Darts back in the day that were always etched and graffitied on the back seats but we in East London had "old" Marshall darts on the D6 . I think I can explain what happened with that which involved a number of routes. So in early 2001 the 257 got those Marshall Darts but then capacity issues arose and so they were given the plaxton tridents that were originally for the 123 in late 2001, as a result of that the Marshall darts then transferred onto the 165 (demoting them to single deck and diverting them in Hornchurch to serve Gidea Park drill) and then the 364 came into the scene in the summer of 2002 but then in 2003 when the Caetano Nimbus came for the 364 the former S2 route was retained by first and they were originally going to get the second batch of the Caetano Nimbus but then the high ups in first decided to keep the nimbus' in Dagenham/Rainham and send the former 257 Marshall darts to Hackney for the S2 which was why when the Nimbus later came to LI you saw the graffiti. Also to add from this point joefrombow one particular bus that used to stand out for me was LK03UFA (DMC41523 or DHL523 during it's early days) that bus was so etched up that it was off the road for months before it appeared again. I just remembered how the wheelchair padded section of the bus looked like someone took a Stanley and sliced it up and the sewn up looked even worse 🤣🤣. The side windows were etched, the front was also etched. Another trick I would see people do is use sandpaper or their keys to do damage and I would shake my head.

Been an issue on the tube too. Etching on interior paneling and glass which I assume don't have the anti-vandal film.
The phone holders on the new high-spec buses also don't seem to have lasted very long.

Vandalism did happen in Inner London particularly on routes that went between Inner and Outer London. I remember the L class Olympians being severely targeted regardless of route and that included the 41 that got refurbished in the early 00’s

Like a lot of things in life etching is cyclical, it disappears for a while but always comes back. I’m sure the, no d out, teenagers will get bored and just move on with their sad pathetic lives with a few stories about how Ct get used to be a menace to society.

I thought they put a protective film over the windows to help counteract this stuff now... sad to see it's coming back Yes, it’s the protective covers that are getting etched This. Vandalism has never gone away, it’s just a few garages have become lax at removing/repairing it. On my cursory glances, AR and AL are both in danger of losing control of it if they are not careful. Re. phone holders - not a great idea in the first place and I wouldn’t be altogether surprised if many of those were accidentally rather than deliberately broken.

Lots of USB sockets getting pulled out on the 20**s that the 270 is allocated to.

Lots of USB sockets getting pulled out on the 20**s that the 270 is allocated to. From my regular rides the 280 gets absolutely trashed with litter at night and there's always new graffiti marks popping up randomly on their buses, obviously lots of dodgy people out in the dark. The 155 and G1 I've seen multiple inappropriate drawings on the backs of seats recently. The 270 is no surprise, the schoolkids are always terrorising Garratt Lane and the 156, so many confrontations and delays between drivers and passengers alike, I feel bad for the drivers

Lots of USB sockets getting pulled out on the 20**s that the 270 is allocated to. A shame but not surprising given we are living in a increasingly lawless and aggressive society. A prime example in the media being people waltzing into shops and brazenly emptying shelves and walking out knowing nothing will be done about it. Since covid people's attitudes have become markedly worse. Not sure why but the difference is noticeable.

Was it not Fainsa seats? They were lethal and ball bag busters. They were deceiving the moquette in the middle of them to make you think it was cushioned and in reality it was covering rock hard plastic.

Sounds just like Urban 90 seats, terrible seats though the kids with the marker pens found a odd use for them by drawing a T next to Urban 90. Those vandal proof seats found on various Go-Ahead low floor double decker vehicles between V & 02 reg (minus the 02 reg WVL's & PDL's which completely missed that trend) and the ones found on some L's, M's & T's were equally terrible.

I remember the 159 VLAs had those when nearly all their other DDs had had either the arch top seats or the ones Stagecoach used. I think the Stagecoach ones are still my favourite used on all their Tridents and Enviros, Go Ahead B9s, all Abellio buses and some DLAs with Arriva at N.

There is an article in Buses magazine reporting a 30% increase in TfL bus crime most of which occurs around school start and finish times.

There is an article in Buses magazine reporting a 30% increase in TfL bus crime most of which occurs around school start and finish times. Make school children pay for their fare (or a redued fare) which will then go towards helping to repair the damage caused or else they can walk - exercise is good! - if they don't want to pay. My parents had to pay for my ticket years ago before there was free travel for school kids.

I’m all down for kids having to pay, the problem is there is a such a level of entitlement nowadays that the parents would probably end up driving them to school increasing congestion on the roads. There is a noticeable difference these days during half terms and term ends compared to school days.
