Storm Ciaran is set to hit the United Kingdom tonight (Wednesday 1st November). Yellow Warnings have been issued for rain and wind from 18.00 tonight until midnight tomorrow, with enhanced Amber Warnings for wind applying in South West England from 03.00 to 11.00 Thursday, and in London & South East England and East of England from 06.00 to 17.00 Thursday.
In South West England, Great Western Railway has urged passengers to complete their journeys by 20.00 tonight, as services cannot be guaranteed after that time. In Cornwall, no trains or rail replacement buses will operate west of St Austell from 20.00 tonight until 12.00 tomorrow. Passengers booked to travel this evening can travel earlier if they need to. Passengers with tickets to travel on Thursday 2nd can bring their journey forward to today or defer until Friday 3rd. Services elsewhere in Cornwall and Devon may be suspended on Thursday due to track conditions, and poor road conditions may mean it is not possible to provide alternative transport.
Cross Country Trains is suspending all services south of Exeter St David's after 19.30. Several Plymouth services are terminating short and this evening's service to/from Paignton is also affected.
Bus operators Stagecoach South West, Plymouth CityBus and Transport for Cornwall have advised that they intend to run all services, but there may be delays, cancellations and service suspensions if roads become impassable. Services crossing the Tamar Bridge are particularly vulnerable if the Bridge has to close to high-sided vehicles.

The A379 has now reopened, buses on route 3 are back to normal route between Flete and Kingsbridge. Tamar Bridge is now fully open and routes 2/2A are operating normally. There is a reminder that a Yellow Warning for wind and rain in Devon and Cornwall is still in place for tonight into Friday morning so there could be further disruption.
