Train services on the Marston Vale Line between Bedford and Bletchley were suspended by London North Western in December 2022 after Vivarail, which supplied and maintained the class 230 units used on the line, went into administration. Rail replacement buses have been operating over the route since then.
Three 2-car class 150 units have now been obtained from Northern and, following staff training, from Monday 20th November a limited Monday-Friday peak time service, focused on the busiest services (the line is well used by students) will be operated with two morning and two afternoon journeys in each direction. Rail replacement buses will continue at other times. A full train service, including Saturday trains, is expected to resume in early 2024 once all staff have been fully trained.

Rail replacement buses have been operating over the route since then. The full Marston Vale Line service between Bedford and Bletchley resumes on Monday 19th February 2024. There will be a roughly hourly service throughout the day on Mondays to Saturdays, also on Bank Holidays. The rail replacement bus service will be withdrawn from this date. To mark the full reopening, a special single fare of £1 adult and 50p child will apply between any two stations on the Marston Vale Line. These tickets allow a break of journey. I may be willing to ride it in a couple of weeks. I would hope for something unique in terms of rolling stock, such as 150s with London North Western Railway moquette.

Further to the above, I have been informed that it will use 150s in the correct livery but with Northern seating. So, as the interiors will be identical to several trains using my local station, I doubt I shall go now after all.

I know it’s in jest but it should be noted that not everyone objected to the Overground Lines new names due to woke reasons so it’s rather misleading TBH Naming a train after a person or place has been common practice for decades unlike naming a line after a random non geographical name |
