Received the below - what does BSM mean?
Thank you for your email of 13 January about the route 969 last day of operation.
At present we don’t have a definite date as to when the last day of operation will be.
We can only advise that the bus will continue to operate until further notice, for now it has BSM approval to operate until the 25th October 2019 but this could possibly change.
Thanks again for contacting us. If there is anything else we can help you with, please reply to this email. Alternatively, you can call us on 0343 222 1234 and we'll be happy to help you.

I think it refers to the Bus Service Management meeting. This is part of the governance process by which service changes are discussed and approved by the relevant TfL management people. It can cover temporary and permanent changes as well as changes to contracts. It is where proposals to improve or worsen services are agreed - subject to the relevant business case justification being produced. In the past it signed off lots of improvements, in the Boris era it signed off lots of "do nothing at all" decisions and in the current era it will be signing off lots of "make reductions and cuts" decisions. I am sure I will be corrected if I've got any of the above wrong.

I have noticed that ever since november, 8780 has been strictly put on the 201 and no other route, even though its a 433 bus. Is there some internal reasons for this or it has become part of the 201 allocation?

Is there some internal reasons for this or it has become part of the 201 allocation? I can only speculate that it could either be fuel evaluation against the 64 reg batch, the blinds are stuck on 201 or simply repetitive coincidence that it's allocated to the same route everyday.

Is there some internal reasons for this or it has become part of the 201 allocation? M1104 has labelled some possibilities but one other possibility is it could be that there is a problem with it that prevents it from running on the 433, most probably to do with the steep hills around Selsdon Vale. I've heard similar cases in the past of that sort of thing happening. The 201 certainly hasn't had any increase of PVR.

I wouldnt know of a reason for it to convert to Euro 6 as the 433 doesnt require euro 6 buses?

I can only speculate that it could either be fuel evaluation against the 64 reg batch, the blinds are stuck on 201 or simply repetitive coincidence that it's allocated to the same route everyday. This can be a possibility, but for fuel evaluation, the outcome may be that it is more feasible to run it on 201 than 433. Having said that, doesn't explain why only that bus is chosen, the 59reg are also on the same emission level as the 12reg?

If the bus is restricted or unable to do the 433 because of the nature of the route, surely reinstating to its normal settings wouldnt take 3 months, i assume its for fuel evaluation, maybe the 64reg would do the 433 more often if the evaluation comes out positive
