Do you think Abellio are in with a chance of winning the 24 from QB?

Do you think Abellio are in with a chance of winning the 24 from QB? We don’t know but there is a chance.

Have a question regarding the Tridents, which I probably knew at one point but have long since forgotten! Of which I'm sure will be a quick and easy answer! Apologies if I get the fleet numbers wrong, I don't have an old enough fleetbook readily to hand. 9701-9730 were obviously purchased new by Connex for the 3 but when 9738-9772 were purchased, weren't they originally for routes 60 & 157? At what point did they end up getting switched to the 3? was it a contract renewal, using existing vehicles, with the earlier vehicles going the other way to the 60 & 157? Or mid contract, which seems to ring a bell for some reason! redexpress has answered pratically everything but just to add on - there wasn't a TA21 or 9721 in the V reg batch for the 3. TA21 was later handed out to DAF DB250 President T135AUA which was acquired for BC having started out at Capital Logistics. The ironic thing about the V's coming off the 3 due to being unable to keep to the schedule and being plonked onto the 157 was they ended up being unable to keep to that schedule years later. I had a few memorable rides on the Volvos whilst at BC including one on the 3 doing a diversion via Gypsy Hill, one on the 157 doing a diversion via part of the 410's routing in Norwood Junction and a very sprightly ride on a 152

At what point did they end up getting switched to the 3? was it a contract renewal, using existing vehicles, with the earlier vehicles going the other way to the 60 & 157? Or mid contract, which seems to ring a bell for some reason! 9739-9772 were indeed new for the 60 and 157 (note 9738 was part of the Y-reg batch for the 196). After the 60 was lost in Sept 2006 some of them moved to the 3 in readiness for the route's new contract starting in Feb 2007, which was awarded on the basis of a mix of new & existing buses.
The "new bus" element of the 3 consisted of new E400s from the batch 9401-9427 (most of the batch was for the 452). In practice the new E400s were concentrated at QB, with a few 02-reg TAs from the 344 batch, plus a handful of 06-reg Vs, moving over to BC for the 3. This gave BC a full allocation of EuroIII vehicles for the 3 as per the contract award. The Vs did not last long on the 3 as their poor acceleration was problematic on a tightly-timed route, so they were swapped with a few TAs on the 157, giving the 3 an all-TA allocation.
Always wondered why the 02 reg Tridents went off lease around 2009ish

Did T135AUA ever work from BC? When it went to Travel London I remember it working from QB, almost always on the 156.

Yep, I saw it out on the 60, 157 & 196. Indeed, though I believe it was officially part of the 157 allocation in particular due to a PVR increase but where the firm didn't have any existing bus for it. It was also used regularly on the N3.

I’d imagine they were a decent batch of buses as Southdown had some and kept a few for a very long time despite plenty of newer buses becoming available through their dealership. Whether they were on a par with the TA’s, I’ve no clue lol.

I wonder if it was cheaper to lease in comparison I meant in terms of the N3 drivers taking it from BC - I believe until around 7 years ago, drivers could choose a bus to some extent. If that one kept going out, it must have been popular!

Sorry i misread it lol I kind of wonder that myself as I travelled on that bus on the 60 and it was quite slow, unless it was quicker to begin with when they acquired it. Having said that it wasn't too quick anyway when Capital logistics and Arriva had it beforehand, despite having the uprated 270 bhp turbo.

Have noticed some 201 drivers now have new style uniforms. Has Abellio been bought out by Iceland? lol
