Snapped 8523 today with its new look. In addition to its missing foglights it now carries a new style E200 rear bumper but only noticed this after it departed. Wonder if it had been worked on at WL as I saw a photo of 8523 on Central Line Rail Replacement in Ruislip last week and it still had its foglights, however it was carrying a WL running number and was out of service for two days after. Speaking of the 407, I wonder if the 59 reg E200's will be withdrawn after the route goes double deck. I'm assuming 8831-8843 will be going off lease if a route can't be found for them, however I can see a few of them transferring temporarily to the 490 to allow the early replacement of the 08/59 reg E200's which are not being retained for the new contract (which saves Abellio having to convert them to Euro VI) and cover for the C10's Enviro200 MMC's which won't be released for the 490 until the electrics arrive (likely to be in Spring next year). They can also act as refurb floats for 8788-8793 and even allow the full batch to be refurbished all at one time. Apart from 8507-8515, are there any older buses at TF that need replacing anytime soon? Don't forget 8020 and 8037 will need to be replaced soon too We’re talking about 10.8m E200’s here...8020 and 8037 are 8.8m and allocated to the K1 which can’t take 10.8m E200’s. If Abellio really wanted to they could have used ex Surrey 8107 and 8109 to replace them but the K1 has one year left to run on its contract and the Darts are likely to see out the contract. 8502 and 8504 also need replacing, forgot they were still going

With Abellio soon to take over the E10, will they run it from Southall garage or Twickenham and what is the long term plan for the Osterley extension? If Twickenham is chosen, why can't AB run it at the moment?

If Twickenham is chosen, why can't AB run it at the moment? The Osterley extension is not guaranteed as it's subject to consultation with other linked route changes to the 440 and E3

If Twickenham is chosen, why can't AB run it at the moment? AB is indeed full. For Abellio, it’ll be useful to have the E10 which they could run from GW or TF once extended depending on where space is needed but I know an AB driver who says he’s been told the E10 is going to GW when it opens. I think TFL will go ahead with the extension even though it’s subject to consultation, I don’t think there are any powerful lobbies who would stop the extension plus the extension is instead of the 112 and I don’t think TFL would want to be embarrassed a second time

It seems crazy to think Abellio and Metroline both have 7 day routes in Ealing now, after a period of Metroline dominance (yes I know the E10 came from RATP) Abellio are really growing in presence which makes me happy

It’s not just First that disappeared as Arriva’s GR also went as well with RATP getting most of those routes.

8523 has become the latest of the original 407 Enviro200's to lose its front foglights. Only 8526 still has them at BC, with 8516 (as far as I'm aware), 8519 and 8525 still keeping their front foglights at TF. Snapped 8523 today with its new look. The foglight thing, I’ve noticed this a lot with Arriva too, is there some sort of new TFL spec that says they need to be covered up?

What will happen to 9487 and 9488 when the 407's new contract begins in November? The tender award said existing hybrid double deckers, 8 of which should be released directly from the 45 cut and 1 indirectly from the 3 cut. Where the other buses will come I don't know but potentially PVR cuts. If Abellio are really scrounging for double deckers to make up the 407's TVR, I see 9487 and 9488 being kept at BC.
Potentially we could have a situation like the 20 currently. Abellio may have thought the 427 cut would be done by November releasing MMCs to go to the 407. That seems the only plausible outcome because the 427 is the only other Abellio route set to be cut. Perhaps some buses will be loaned in until the 427 is cut or maybe the 407 will only recieve a part double decker allocation at first

And as for the buses released from the 427, they could be used to win and operate the new 278.
