Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to sample the first day of Abellio running the E11 today, something I will try to rectify soon. From my casual observations on LVF, Abellio haven't been doing too badly on the route. I snapped 8242 on the stand in Greenford today whilst I was passing through although disconcertingly, when I check LVF for the E11 there are no records of 8242 being on the route today - I wonder whether this is because there were issues logging into ibus? I hope Abellio do a good job on the E11 as their presence in once Metroline heartlands continues to grow
It’s quite an easy route. Parked cars could be a problem, that’s about it.

It’s quite an easy route. Parked cars could be a problem, that’s about it. It's actually packed with twists and turns and seems like a hard route for drivers due to the very tight sections and the parked cars. The worst moments are when you meet a fellow E11 in the opposite direction on of the narrow, steep roads.

He said the braking on the E11's 19 plates wasn't very good when he drove one on the E5

He said the braking on the E11's 19 plates wasn't very good when he drove one on the E5 The brakes are probably fine, they just take a bit of getting used to. Though some buses that size are like bouncy castles and because of the short wheelbase, extra care has to be taken not to be too hard on the brakes. The MMCs that appeared on the R5/R7/R10 for example bounced and bobbed all over the place and kept hitting the ground where longer buses wouldn't!

I totally understand where he is coming from with the braking on the stop start e200s actually they are not very good and sometimes you feel as if the bus isn't going to stop and I am not the only one who has this opinion. I was even warned about it before I started at soveriegn by a few of the drivers at Stamford brook.

Once upon a time it used to be drivers complaining about the throttles where buses werent quick enough, now it's the brakes where buses dont slow down enough. lol

I have heard that for some buses at AB, you need to exert a lot of force on the brake pedal for the bus to stop but on other buses you don't need to exert very much force

They suffered from brake fade, terrible when fully loaded, plus they had drum brakes all-round. You had to literally stand up to stop the bus.

Do the same thing on a shorter, older E200 and it slams into the ground!

I remember the first time I drove an LDP and was shocked that despite the bus being larger than the step entrance predesessor DRLs the brake felt less effective. I had especially noticed this when driving a 155 down Balham Hill and had to a somewhat sudden stop. The DRLs on the other hand had powerful brakes that were as effective as the B7TLs. They were also superiour over most[1] LDPs in acceleration. [1] - LDP34, LDP66 and LDP120 were supped up with prompt pullaway settings combined with more torque

8523 has become the latest of the original 407 Enviro200's to lose its front foglights. Only 8526 still has them at BC, with 8516 (as far as I'm aware), 8519 and 8525 still keeping their front foglights at TF.

Only 8526 still has them at BC, with 8516 (as far as I'm aware), 8519 and 8525 still keeping their front foglights at TF. Snapped 8523 today with its new look. In addition to its missing foglights it now carries a new style E200 rear bumper but only noticed this after it departed. Wonder if it had been worked on at WL as I saw a photo of 8523 on Central Line Rail Replacement in Ruislip last week and it still had its foglights, however it was carrying a WL running number and was out of service for two days after. Speaking of the 407, I wonder if the 59 reg E200's will be withdrawn after the route goes double deck. I'm assuming 8831-8843 will be going off lease if a route can't be found for them, however I can see a few of them transferring temporarily to the 490 to allow the early replacement of the 08/59 reg E200's which are not being retained for the new contract (which saves Abellio having to convert them to Euro VI) and cover for the C10's Enviro200 MMC's which won't be released for the 490 until the electrics arrive (likely to be in Spring next year). They can also act as refurb floats for 8788-8793 and even allow the full batch to be refurbished all at one time. Apart from 8507-8515, are there any older buses at TF that need replacing anytime soon?
