Sounds to me if a bus has been allocated the IBus id of that VW Exactly - the fact that it's tracking on the 204 at the same time as it's supposed to be on the 393 is a clear sign that it's not a genuine appearance. No way would they use a VW if they can't even get approval for a DE on the route!

I definitely wouldn’t call the StreetLite lightweight - obviously compared to DDs - but it’s most probably the heaviest single decker ever made. One of the 424’s tiny StreetLites is 7.5T where as the regular length E200s that the 209 have are under 7.1T. GAL had to deviate from their standardised order of WSs as they’re far too heavy for that pesky green bridge. It’s a shame that commercial viability comes before helping the environment, which is what provincial fleets are doing thirsty diesels instead of cleaner hybrids. And a 10.6m Citaro weighs over 10t - compared to that, a Streetlite is definitely lightweight!
I agree with the general point about commercial concerns vs environmental concerns. However in the case of lightweight SDs I'm not sure that going hybrid makes that much difference. During the hybrid trials in London it turned out that the hybrid SDs weren't much better in terms of emissions than the standard SDs, and that's before you even take into account the environmental impact of batteries etc. Unfortunately there is this public perception that "hybrid" = "good for the environment".
Exactly. Hybrids may be better short-term but when disposing the batteries, they are definetely less environmentally-friendly. Engines are getting cleaner and cleaner - look at the figures on the NOx levels in the LEBZ zones.

Apparently, it has according to our regular Metroline source on here and I'm not going to go against his word I'm aware that the ENL's are the same length and that they work the route everyday Could be the possibility the new MMC range has a different wheelbase length. The drivers definitely didn't have problems with the ENL's A 10.9m DEL & a 10.2m DE were both route tested and both failed - that’s all I’ve heard from @tp446

Why can’t the 393 use the DEMs I am sure the 382 could use DEs as the routes it follows such as the 326,143 and 251 use the same type of bus. However maybe a DE wouldn’t fit on the hail and ride before Arnos Grove.

Could a super capacitor single deck bus be developed? It would have the advantage of providing some of the power from the capacitor without the heavy battery like the WHYs had.

Yes, I believe it most definitely could. However hybrid single decks don't actually seem to be popular in the UK as a whole, you may as well go for electric. Hybrid technology, is starting to become a bit dated in my opinion.

It was noticed and reported a while ago in the transfers thread. Is there any reason for this transfer? Considering TEH1109 left for HT around the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if it was TEH1109s replacement.

According to yahoo group another bath of 9.7m Enviro 200 MMCs has been ordered for the 393 for a delivery in 6-8 months is that true? False.
