I thought the 358 MEC’s were going to be reblinded to include 227, there was some mention of this on here suggesting it would happen. Have the 227 inserts been added or not? They did 1 which was MEC51, dont know if they are still going to do it originally they said they would.

Yes, 561. The car suffered a lot of damaged to its top roof, so I guess 561 didn’t suffer that much damage at all seeing it’s now back on the road. Hope all involved were unhurt. Any news articles or photos on this incident? 561 only had a crumpled offside front bumper

I don’t think they’ll touch the MECs until the 358s results come out, they’re due anytime now. If the route gets given to Stagecoach or Go Ahead decide to go fully electric on the 358 which will need 4 new buses anyway then I don’t see the 227 being placed on the blinds. The 358 MECs would only be retained most likely as it would be costly for them to ask for electrics, installing the new electric charging points when it’s own vehicle are euro 6 and compliant

The 358 hasn’t got enough MECs to cover its allocation. The 3 Scanias are too old and so are the MECs on the 108 to do another contract and they don’t have any other buses at that size in diesel. I can see it going to Stagecoach personally and the MECs being withdrawn.

I'm personally hoping that Go Ahead retain it, I want Citaros around for as long as possible But you make a good point, if only one or two electrics need to be brought it might make sense just converting the whole fleet which could make it a very even playing field upon tender, TB certainly have the space and I'm sure Abellio will be interested too.

I don't think Abellio is that likely, though Go Ahead did run the 54 & 202 from C. I also wouldn't rule out Arriva from N, they have use the Beddington outstation in a reshuffle to make space. But the 358 will probably be between MB and TB.

I’m saying if retained, with existing buses, GAL aren’t going to just order 3 electric buses and to just have 3 charging spots, it’s not cost efficient. They are better off ordering 3-4 WS’s to cover the scanias, not electric.

All electric single decker routes bar short length single deckers must be electric so they wouldn't be able to order any number of WS's. Either they order 3-4 electrics alongside the MEC's or order a full fleet of electrics.

I still think TFL will be a bit fluid still on the electric front if the costs justify. There might be a technicality if the award is still made this side of 2020 still.

Nothing to stop a deal being done somewhere , probably better just to wait and see, likewise won't be that surprised if the route relocates.

I think a Go Ahead retain is the most likely outcome but will certainly be one to watch. I can see Stagecoach throwing the kitchen sink at it after the losses of the 208 and 227, some new electrics for TB would lift morale over there.
