Hilarious that they've tried to cover it up, do they think drivers don't read forums like this? I wouldn't be at all surprised if Go Ahead retain the 286 however badly they run it as I really don't see who will take it off them. Arriva from DT possibly although I don't suppose they've got much room now, and it would be an awkward one for Abellio or Stagecoach. I do hope it is double decked at the next contract. There is a simple solution that wouldn't need any extra buses. There is a disused bus stop lay-by for two buses on the A20 at Foots Cray, Crittalls Corner: www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4135501,0.1115062,3a,75y,62.43h,71.59t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sRLhsfUHX-CoOsZX-jF1NWA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 This would be about 4 minutes, round trip from QMH, via the A20. I would think the removal of the QMH loop would cancel out the extra journey time. That disused stop could be the last and first stop as well as the stand. If they’re not going to double deck much busier routes like the 289, 355, P4, etc, I can’t see the 286 being chosen in all honesty.

Top posting works if you get all the quote brackets in the right place, but I digress - it's not that important really, and beaver is a good source of GAL info Seems like BX are about to get rid of E203-206 - none ran in service today. Will be interested to see where they go. I don't know why you insist on top posting, it makes things very untidy.

The existing SEs were sent for refurb and one of them is back I believe. Once they are all done, the Darts will go. As for the 14reg SEs, they are covering for the StreetLites which obviously caused issues with bridge clearance, and at the moment they are set to stay. However *one* driver said they will be getting them back Erm but I wonder how given you can't really go around the WS height issue can you?? I hope that's just their gossip lol GAL tried to cover the bridge fiasco up a bit! Some 286 drivers were told that the SEs were going away for an overhaul and they were to get them back! Some only found out about the real reason for the swap when I told them! In terms of how permanent it will be, the swap is going to be a permanent measure. The buses meet the contract specifications for both routes. The 170 is due to keep the SEs for the remainder of it's contract at least, from what I was told. The 286 contract, however, is up next year, and Go Ahead are expected to lose the route on account of unacceptable levels of lost mileage. The vast majority of the lost mileage has come from SEs going mechanical, so MG must be pretty glad to see the back of them! Well if no one else bids for the route, TfL could end up re-approaching Go-Ahead.

Well if no one else bids for the route, TfL could end up re-approaching Go-Ahead. If GAL do meet their performance targets though, they would be the ones most likely to get the cheapest bid. They have fully compliant existing Buses, the Streetlites, and they have the best placed garage of all the operators.

Had 186 this afternoon on the 138 and it is indeed unrefurbished, and still has YOB! Good to get one before the refurbs. 187 was VOR for quite some time so wonder if it has now been done. I saw 187 on the 162 on Tuesday when I was on the 367. It has a new front end, complete with Metrobus logo, but still not refurbished, 188 is also unrefurbished. Do you mean a GAL Metrobus logo or the regular Metrobus logo?

I would be interested to see what happens with E246-275 on the 36 when the new MMC’s arrive to replace them. I wonder what will be done with them. Am I right in thinking the 213 and D7 don’t have enough allocated buses to make up their PVR? Some could be used there.

I don't know about the 213 and D7 though. I would love to see them back on the 129 as refurb floats though, instead of those old crippling 2003 WVLs.
