I reckon a 3-tone chime would have been more effective. Yes I agree. I find the 3-tone chime used on Thameslink services very effective in getting people's attention. This same chime is used all over the railway network in The Netherlands. www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-UA4GVlUJUThey use the same chime in loads of airports too, including at Heathrow

Of all announcement chimes to use when the driver uses the PA, why did TfL choose one for buses which sounds rather spooky as if you're in a graveyard? It doesn't sound appropriate imo. Mind you for some reason when the driver of my 405 used it on Thursday to tell us we were on diversion, the "Announcement in Progress" message did not appear on iBus (or at least I didn't notice it) You want to hear it when it malfunctions and tolls repeatedly, it's like something out of a horror movie.

How it ended up in the 700's we'll never know.

Does Stagecoach wales still own any Optare Tempo's? Was in Wales this weekend and saw Stagecoach operated route T4 the vehicle I saw was a standard Enviro 200 but when I looked online it seems like the route has had Optares in the past so was just wondering if Stagecoach got rid of there's like RATP did.

I believe I saw somewhere that they were replaced by MCV Evora's and Enviro 300s, and the Optare Tempos returned to the local council (whom they were leased from). For those interested the former T4 fleet consisted of: 25101 - YJ55YFY (Withdrawn in 2018 - last photo of it suggests in the comments it was up for sale - This was in early 2019) 25102 - YJ55YFZ (Withdrawn in 2018 - last photo of it suggests in the comments it was up for sale - This was in early 2019) 25103 - YJ55YGC (Withdrawn in 2018 - Since converted into a trainer) 25104 - YJ61MMA 25105 - YJ61MME 25106 - YJ61MMF 25107 - YJ61MMO 25108 - YJ61MMU 25109 - YJ61MMV 25116 - YJ62FAF 25117 - YJ62FBF 25118 - YJ62FBZ I believe that 25104-25109/25116-25118 have since been returned to the local council and are awaiting sale or lease by another company.

I really hope that the zebra crossing outside Hammersmith station on Beadon Road get's changed to a pelican, so many people use that crossing which gives buses and cars no chance to pass.

I'd second that movement for the one at the top of Cambridge Road in Barking, the amount of traffic that causes for the volume of buses that pass through it is just unacceptable.

I think the roadworks there are still ongoing but it was awful recently when I was there and there was a huge backlog of cars due to the road being narrowed for roadworks, the 27 is still curtailing at Hammersmith so I'd imagine the roadworks are still ongoing

I'd like to know what goes through people's minds when a particular crossing is installed because there are plenty of instances where a pelican crossing has been placed yet is not busy enough to justify yet that example you mention is one where a pelican crossing is better suited. I've long said there are too many crossings in London - for example, all 4 pelican crossings on Brixton Hill should really zebra crossings and arguably one of the crossings shouldn't really exist.
