While I loathe them outside of London, in London, I don't think they are too bad, well a step up from Metroline ;D

The spectator contract will tend to use existing buses and coaches, interestingly First brought one of their new Avon and Somerset Wrightbus B7RLE single deckers to the launch, is this a hint of what might be provided, (or just the current new build which was available for a press launch). I suspect there will be some new build (which will go into normal service in the provinces afterwards) as there wont be enough spare fleet (even though it is summer holidays and schools are out) as most of the school special fleet isn't the greatest examples of modern buses, Additionally the paraolympics doesn't finish until 9th Sept 2012 after school term has started www.firstgroup.com/corporate/latest_news/?id=005071

I expect the bid was put together by first rail support in lancashire as they do most of these jobs inc the commonwealth games in manchester already mentioned and they did a pretty good job of that.
