Surrey now have proposed changes to school routes (to take effect Sept 2011) possibly proposing £2.50 daily fare for those who don't get free journeys, only 677 pupils in whole County are entitled to free school transport due to journey length. www.surreycc.gov.uk/legcom/CouncilP.nsf/f5fb086c73d64f3000256954004aed25/10c4faa6d097be4780257757004a9cc5?OpenDocumentStatutory requirements are children under 8 only get free transport over 2 miles, those 8 and over 3 miles (but junior pupils who get free meals get 2 mile limit) When you see figures like this you realise how much taxpayers money TfL voluntarily subsidises London schoolkids

Some of the new Surrey routes are on the latest London Service Permit update where they come into Kingston www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/businessandpartners/LSP_Bulletin.pdfInterestingly those using Cromwell Road bus station have to have an audible reversing device (see page 5 and others) even though many TfL buses which reverse out of the stands do not have this. Buses on new routes 458, 459 (replacing 218, 471) max length 11.4m Buses on route 461, (replacing 451, 461) max length 11.0m Buses on routes 513, 515A max length 10.8m (515 has timetable changes only) Not sure who the Operators are, (currently Abellio Surrey), although I'm not aware of Abellio having any 11.4m buses (maybe they are losing routes or getting longer buses, does anyone know ?) Does say max length ... no minimum stated ... so probably get away with shorter

Hence my question, does anyone know of Abellio getting 11.4m buses ?

According to the LOTS website, Abellio are due some of `Surrey CC's 22 'Pegasus' Darts at Guildford ` Now do not know the bodywork or reg's of any of these ... any offers? Well it seems to be these farm4.static.flickr.com/3378/3421883735_8d2fd93a75_o.jpgThey are 11.6m Super East Lancs Esteems, currently operated by First Berkshire on behalf of Surrey CC. DME43911-32 (LK55 ACY/X, ADU-V/X/Z, AEA, ACV, LK06 BWB-D, LK56 JKE-F/J/N-O/V, LK07 CBF/O/U-V/X) (In that order) The Pegasus buses were originally bought for dedicated school routes, but the fleet is being disbanded, and LOTs news says Abellio are getting 18 (the other 4 are going to other Operators) According to my fleetbook 43911-43927 seat 39 and 43928-43932 seat 43 not sure if 2007 batch are slightly longer or seats are more cramped

Why didn't Abellio request max 11.6m for all routes if they plan (or maybe use as a substitute) these buses into Kingston. If the LSP has a max length that is below 11.6m then presumably they cannot work cross border services into TFL territory

One of the ex Ride Pegasus buses, LK55 AEA is now at Southdown PSV which according to their Facebook page with operate new Route 424 which will run between Horley and Redhill via East Surrey Hospital and Reigate. I wonder if this bus is now owned by Southdown PSV or still owned by Surrey CC but given with the contract of the 424 in the same arragement as KCC and Route 401.

Abellio have some fancy new webpages for their enhanced Surrey Routes (click on route changes on left) www.abellio.co.uk/route-461.htmlnote the ...bigger, better and more comfortable buses (their words not mine), and presumably means the (ex Pegasus) Esteems compared to Abellios existing 8.8m Darts

Hope to get into central Kingston today, will report back later if I see any of Abellios 11.3m (ex Pegasus) buses
Noticed on Thursday that someone has been very busy changing e-tiles at many Kingston stops, with new routes 458,459 removal of 218, 471, re-routing of 515A etc
one consequence, the Eden Street stop (E3 ?) has been reduced to 16 routes (has lost 515A), so if anyone knows a 17 route stop elsewhere they can claim most routes trophy. Still has some squashed route numbers as there are still only 15 tiles. And now there is only 7 timetables not displayed as only 9 timetable display positions are fitted (why not add some more displays to end of bus shelter instead of some of the rubbish posters displayed)

Have seen a few more, I think they might be numbered 8761-8774 in Abellio fleet All the ones I have seen are in Abellio Surrey colours. They don't appear to be fitted with assault screens, but most Surrey services finish early or mid evening, so probably only see genteel (ie normal or majority) passengers, not occasional thugs.
