www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/8402865.WALTHAM_ABBEY__Bus_driver_assaulted_by_motorist/Last Saturday, I travelled on Arriva Shires route 250 (Debden-Loughton-Waltham Abbey-Waltham Cross), and at Shernbroke Road I noticed another 250 in the opposite direction with passengers and driver outside the bus. The driver of my bus stopped to help, and told us that the driver had just been attacked. Turns out the scumbag was a blue Mustang driver. About 20 mins before the attack, the Mustang cut the bus up. When the bus reached Shernbroke Road to pick up passengers, the 'man' boarded the bus and attacked the driver. What a pathetic excuse for a human being. I don't think he had a brain either, as I don't think it will be long to find a blue prattmobile (sorry, Mustang).

Not really sure about that. Outside London, most buses don't have the protective guard, and the bus involved in the attack was a Dennis Dart P833HVX which definatly doesn't have any protection for the driver. The attack might not have happened if it was on the bus I was on. The bus I travelled on was a Wright Cadet KE04CZF which to my surprise had a protective guard.
My guess is that the maniac punched the driver while in the cab, then the driver probably tried to get out the cab, where he then got kicked. Seeing as the driver doesn't have a door on his side, I think I would have tried to get out the cab aswell.
Also, I can't understand why the blue Mustang cut the bus up, then attacked the bus driver. I would of thought the bus cut the Mustang up, then the idiotic Mustang driver tried to get revenge.

And its not something that happens in Waltham Abbey. There are some parts of Waltham Abbey, including the Shernbroke Road estate, which are not particularly nice areas but crime isn't a big problem. Also, its very unexpected at midday on a Saturday! Here is a rear view picture of P833HVX after the attack which I took from the bus I was on. The quality isn't very good, and there is no evidence of the attack in the photo, but thought I would show it anyway: www.flickr.com/photos/loughtonkid/5001092792/

Bus drivers should carry something defensive (Like Pepper Spray or something Lool).. this shouldn't be happening I mean whats the emergency call out button is gonna do, it's gonna take the police at least 20mins to arrive to the scene by the time they arrive the attacker/robber etc is at least 5miles or more down the road or area, and the CCTV on buses outside of London don't actually work tbh IMO.
