Could it be covering for a missing SP on the 183 or could it be an extra bus on the 183. Is it possible that the H91 has enough buses with all three LC67 & VH45299-VH45309, the rest of the buses could be coming from the 285 reduction? Yet there are still SP at HH and are still being used on the route? Well SP40037 hasn't been in service since 23-11-2018 perhaps VH45298 is covering that. I think SP40037 was an extra for the H14 before it got its ADHs. I think it seems more likely that VH45298 is covering for VHR45203 which hasn’t been in use since the 24th of December.

Just saw it at Cromwell Road Bus Station on the 71. What on earth is going on with those three? Maybe its a replacement for SP40019 (TV also have 40017 and 40018) 6 consecutively numbered SPs 40019-24 appear to be out of service, these might be the ones for the Bedfont Lakes service which starts 25th (or Monday 28th) Jan. (somebody (Deppy ?) has advised new buses expected in summer, so would be interim fleet) SP40020 is one of the SP's heading for Bedfont Lakes services

Sorry if I'm asking old questions but I'm wondering what the stance is on the SPs? If a upgrade cannot be found then what is currently operating on the 65,71,111,183,281,H32 and temporary? on the 79 will have to be replaced by 2021. That's alot of new buses needed or can some be upgraded as they are Euro5 already and which routes are they on. If LU decided not to upgrade any then they will have to buy alot of new buses before the contracts have renewed.

They would need a lot of new buses for next October when the LEZ upgrade comes into place. Currently, LEZ requires Euro IV but will be brought up to the same standard as ULEZ.

Any bus can be upgraded to Euro VI whether it's Euro V or a Pre-Euro bus, it just depends on how many will be done which in part determines the cost of doing so.

SP40087 is then theoretically one of the replacements for SP40021/2 at HH and SP40040 for SPs40023/4 at AV. Slightly surprised the latter were selected as they were refurbed around 18 months ago for the H32 renewal. Not sure if AV are now technically one SP short as a number have seemingly been stood down or transferred out since the OTs returned to the H37 and the temporary SP allocation on the 203 ended. Also, the transfer back to AV of SPs 40006/8 was short lived. I wonder why they made the brief move?

I think SP40087 is a replacement for VH45256 with possibly the spares from the 697 & 698 covering for SP40023-4's removal - I could be wrong though. I imagine SP40036 along with SP40040 has replaced SP40023-4 - this should leave a couple of SP's spare rather than short.

I think the SP shuffle at AV has effectively allowed 4 or 5 older SPs on basis that 81 is lost in 6 months, so the SP part allocation will go anyway (with the ADEs being redeployed) Regarding SP 40019-24, might only be 5 of this 6, but not sure how many are getting reprints There are 7 SPs still at V (for E3), this is because a proposed PVR cut on 27 hasn’t yet happened (last I heard was March) so not enough LTs for 27, so handful of the ADHs not yet available for E3. Might be some extra LTs from the central spares pool (cuts elsewhere) to allow full conversion. The 211 fleet also transfers in June when route gained from Abellio The night allocations at V change Friday night next week, the N9 is gained from AV and officially converts to LTs. The N27 should now also be LT (the ADHs survived at night until early Jan).

So even with the spare ADHs from the E3 PVR cut and the 94 (which may see new buses) that's still alot of new ones needed is no SPs will get upgraded. I can imagine the ADEs going to the 79.

Yes, around 120-130 buses SPs (depending on PVR changes by October 2020) could still be around. Route 139 is up for tender, and both the 285 and 116 might be tendered (if no 2 year extension). Also another route may convert to LTs. But realistically probably looking at early replacement of 60-100 SPs if none get upgraded. RATP could also acquire some surplus lease buses (not that it has done this in past). My thoughts are ~25 electric double decks (end 2019 for 94) and another ~25 (for either 139 or 220 summer 2020) with remainder as new mini hybrid deckers (for routes like 71, 111 etc). this is a wild guess.

They paid TfL several hundred thousand pounds to fund the extension from Turnham Green and aren’t very happy it’s being withdrawn.
