Hi all From Monday 3rd January, Ensign Bus route 73 which runs between Lakeside and Tilbury has become Thurrock’s first 24 hour route, a bit running 24 hours on Monday to Friday only, this also shows how Ensign have turned the Thurrock network since Arriva gave up. I hope ensign does well on the 73 at night as even if they are not charging child fares, standard adult fares will apply which is unusual for a night service outside London. A link to ensigns own article on it is here: www.ensignbus.com/news_notices.htm

Being honest i wish Ensign would take over more routes from First Essex as what they have done with the 81 and now the 73 is amazing

Good luck to them! Its unusual to be operating it on weeknights - most out-of-London night routes are on weekends to attract clubbers etc, but this seems to be aimed at workers. smdave24, I get the impression that Ensign don't particularly want to expand much, judging from the Buses magazine article and from what i've heard people saying. Don't know how true that is though. In the coming years, I certainly wouldn't be surprised though if Ensign took over more First Essex routes. Not sure if you knew this, but Ensign recently operated one of their Olympus buses on First's 100 due to staff issues, as seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/essex999/6583636559/in/photostream (photo copyright thurrockdave)

Heard stories about seriously dangerous Volvo B10M's being thrown out into service. Better late than never although First Essex should still fix up .
