West's Coaches of Woodford ceased trading after 63 years, due to the retirement of owner Bob West. Dan's Luxury Travel will be taking them over. Looks like Bob West will still have a role in Dans Luxury Travel though. Also its good to know this wasn't caused by the recession like many other transport firms in recent years.
Thought I should mention, Wests did at one time operate local bus services after deregulation, operating the Loughton local services, the Loughton-Ongar 201 service, and other contracts. They also operated the 531 and 532 Debden-Chingford service which created a new link, which has since become London Buses 397. County Bus (later Arriva East Herts & Essex) took over their bus services in about 1997 I think.
Sad to see them go. At least they have been taken over by an equally good company and presumably there will be no job losses.
