So would you say it is a good idea? Made the thread, will probably come in useful in this day and age with the move towards electricity and hydrogen

So would you say it is a good idea? Made the thread, will probably come in useful in this day and age with the move towards electricity and hydrogen In which case you should arguably rename this the battery bus thread. Hydrogen buses are electric buses, the difference is that the electricity powering the electric motor comes from hydrogen instead of batteries.

There has been a zero emissions bus exhibition in Berlin, not sure if any of these will ever come to UK but does show current selection There is an 8.95m from Dutch company Tribus (wasn't there talk of lack of approx 9m electric buses) Urban Transport Magazine Link

This could refer to the Council's own school/welfare/community transport services rather than public bus services.

The date that all new single deck buses (including 9m buses) have to be zero emission (electric and hydrogen) is October 2020 which TFL have confirmed, so I assume after the 26th October when the London wide ULEZ starts

It appears the bus contracting programme is being reviewed per page 68 (section 19.015) Audit Committee To review the key controls around changes to the bus contracting model to support the introduction of electric vehicles. Deferred as the team are in the middle of developing the strategy. Will be part of 2021 or 2122 plan – re named Bus Electrification Strategy in the new plan content.tfl.gov.uk/aac-20200316-agenda-and-papers.pdf

"The plan is to introduce 5,000 electric buses over the next ten years. Or is that ten electric buses over the next 5,000 years?".

Does anyone know much about the Higer Steed? Could this be an answer to the short electric bus requirement? Harris Auto seems to be the UK Higer distributor.

Something that has certainly crept under my radar is UK electric truck manufacturer Arrival are planning on launching an electric bus ... the previous news item was for an order of 10,000 vans for UPS, so must be doing something right. Wish the British based company every success with the venture.

Wish the British based company every success with the venture. There was a short video online of a 67 plate Arrival electric single decker presumably being tested.
