Hi all The cuts that the government planned for City Hall are not as bad a originally thought. Its been cut by 12.5% instead of 25%. However there have been some interesting news about certain projects: GOBLIN gets the go ahead for electrification (at bloody last) Tube Upgrade Protected Greater Anglian Suburban Services to become London Overground Fesablity Study for Crossrail 2 gets the go ahead. The 12.5% cut is expected to hit City Hall in 2015/6, and thats for City Halls day to day spending. Theres no mention about whether BSOG has saved the axe or not, but the DfT have taken a 9% cut. www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/londons-major-transport-projects-spared-axe-but-city-hall-faces-big-cuts-8674994.html

I see the NBFL project is not on the list... So anyone who wants the NBFL project to face cuts say yay or nay? But TFL need to start pushing in more serious projects to enable people travel around London.

But TFL need to start pushing in more serious projects to enable people travel around London. Depending on what route they choose for crossrail 2, this is a serious project that will have better benefits than HS2. Upgrading and enlarging booking halls and stations are good projects although alot of them are already announced. Extending Tramlink east and west wards, Developing the DLR would be serious projects and making more bus route 24 hour and or introducing more night routes. Knowing someone who has land along the route of HS2, it has no/ extremely little benefits to the country. The intail cost of £30 odd billion has risen to about £42 billion does not include the cost of buying the rolling stock and staffing these new trains! After reading the railway magazines, the local and national press and listening to info the land owner has told me, HS2 will only return about £1.10 in every £1 invested in it and the treasury bottom limit is a return of £1.30 in every £1 invested.

It won't, unfortunately, be cancelled. Given the scale of cuts it deserves to be stopped to save a whole load of money - especially the "conductor" costs which are a scandalous waste of money. It is clear that there are horrible reliability issues with Metroline's vehicles. At least 5 have broken down in 4 days - probably more - but Metroline staff have been gagged so can't say what's wrong to anyone "unofficial".
