Not so sure about this. Feel for the ticket office staff. Another thought is how the rolling stock on the Piccadilly Line would cope. The trains are already 40 years old and are not due to be replaced until 2020!!

Presumably night buses which follow the selected lines (N5, N20, N91, N98, N155 et all) could be reduced as a result?

Sent from my Nexus 7 using ProBoards Yes i think they will however for this to work then bus routes serving stations open all night will need to be 24hour as well otherwise this wont work. Lets hope we will see 24/7 service on the 114,142,222,340 AND many more !

For me the easiest candidates would be W3 and W7! There are others, mainly those that go 24/7 on NYE for same reason I suppose!

Today's ticket machines provide a comprehensive selection of tickets. Oyster Ticket Stops have made the reduced service in ticket offices possible. I believe the idea is for ticket office staff to be visible in the booking hall performing customer service duties. Ticket offices cannot be closed as in used for other purposes because the ticket machines need to be serviced from the rear and this is done from a little room attached to the ticket office. LUL do not use standalone ticket machines as NR do. Therefore the ticket office needs to be entered at least once each day even if the window is not open

With the official launch of the Night Tube Map today, I have been wondering why the northern line bank branch has been not been included given the sprawling night life around Old Street and struggling night buses from that area into South London.

I was told that it is due to the long term work at Bank and that it probably will be included once that is finished

On the subject of the map here it is. I note this map features an owl who looks sort of happy. This compares to "grumpy frowning" owl who appears on some night bus maps. It's also interesting that we now have three styles of showing a night service - "happy owl", "grumpy owl" and bus with crescent moon. Might be good to settle on one style and stick with it. I am ever so slightly disappointed that there is nothing to show the outer area stations where 24 hour, night and Weekend Night bus will connect with the Night Tube. I know the bus changes are out for consultation but it would be helpful to at least provide a mock up or indicative design.

I'm sure I'm not the only one! A colour match rethink required!

Can barely make out the Piccadilly Line against the blue background! I'm sure I'm not the only one! A colour match rethink required! I know what you mean. It's not ideal at all but then using a white background would make it indistinguishable from the main Tube Map. I've lost count of the times I've seen people looking at the night bus timetable or night bus map and then deciding to wait in the daytime for a night bus!! TfL need the map to stand out but you can't use black because then the Northern Line disappears! You'll note that each line actually has a very thin white border around its colour to make it stand out slightly from the dark background.

I can't see why they couldn't have slightly remodeled it away from the 'normal' tube map. The number of kinks, particularly in the Central line, seem unnecessary, and Camden Town to Euston looks so wrong! Also, won't this be quite expensive to print, with all that blue ink required?
