Wonder what types of buses will be at the Regent Street rally?

Just spotted that TfL have a Year of the Bus project page. It has some You Tube videos about why people "love the bus". There is also a video about a Network Controller. You can also send in your thoughts or a video about why you "love the bus".

Interesting videos. Maybe a thread should be created for members to share their earliest memories, favorite route, best journey they had and why they love the bus. Doubt any of us will make it on the TfL page!

I saw my first "Year of the Bus" bus stop today. The roundel had been overstickered with a "Year of the Bus" roundel of the same design that are being put on the side of buses. It's on the south end of Waterloo bridge. I also note that we have a load of bus garage open days over the Summer including Catford, Stockwell, Alperton and Walworth. Year of the Bus Event CalendarA New Bus for London will also be taking part in the London leg of the Tour de France.

They've been put on all stops along the 10 from Kensington High Street onwards as well. Will put up photo later

There's badges that bus drivers can collect from their depots too. Collected mine from MB when I signed off this morning

TfL have published more details of the Regent St Bus Cavalcade on 22 June 2014. Emma "I-Bus" Hignett will be recording mobile phone ringtones for people. WebpageLayout of vehiclesSlightly surprised that RM1 isn't going to be there and no preserved BL, LS or even a Dart. They've all played a part in keeping parts of the Bus network alive and working. And, surprise surprise, no Bendy Bus but 3 (!) bleep bleep NB4Ls. Now tell me politics plays no part in this event.

Bit dissapointed there are no Volvo Plaxton's, considering they represented such a large portion of buses in the 2000's.

Even just having TA1 represent that era would of been enough to your normal person.

The LTs seemed very popular with the public at the display today (LTs 6, 150 and 239 for the number crunchers amongst you). It was a very good display, and it was most pleasing to see a large turnout from members of the public beyond the enthusiast fraternity! Personal highlights were the lovely Tilling open top bus (actually all the very early stuff was interesting), RM2 with its original front restored, FRM1 back with its original front panel, equal height London Transport fleetnames and grey band, Ensign's T499 in Green Line guise, and lovely to see Swift SM1 again after an awfully long time, restored to original condition by the London Bus Company, complete with Catford blinds. Did anyone else go? Or were you all at North Weald?

Did anyone else go? Or were you all at North Weald? I went - the buses were nice to see but the vehicle positioning for photography was dreadful. The crowds didn't help but there was always going to be that risk. I spoke to several people trying to get the "perfect" snap which was a pointless exercise IMO. I don't possess quite that much patience. My snaps will be on Flickr later today and tomorrow.

Did anyone else go? Or were you all at North Weald? I did both - North Weald this morning (which was rather flat - I didn't even hear Telstar!) then back in on the Central Line. I enjoyed it, pretty much for the same reasons as you. It was heartening to see the ordinary public engaged and even queuing up to get on vehicles. Good to see RM2 reemerge after all this time too: that project seems to have taken far longer than anyone expected.

I didn't go to it, although it appears that it was a decent display. However I really think it was a shame there were no early low floor buses, whether Stagecoach TA1 or a Dennis Dart of some sort, given how major a change that was in the bus industry. Not to mention the lack of bendy bus, which, if being cynical, would appear to be an attempt to hide less successful things over the years There were minor errors in detail too from the photos I've seen; what should have been an E400H turned up as standard diesel TE920, while the Gemini 3 display had WHV1 instead!
