so between now and June there will be enough LTs built for route 38 and 8!! Warning - speculation ahead. LOTS have not quoted a conversion date so don't know where June comes from. We also need to consider that TfL will want to take some time to evaluate euro6 spec NB4Ls in service before having a big delivery of them. I wonder if route 8's vehicles will be euro5 spec thereby allowing a break in production (the workers in NI will need their Summer holidays)? Route 38 could then convert gradually with euro6 spec buses once TfL and Wrights are convinced they're working OK. I cannot see TfL wanting a big bang conversion - where are they going to store 60 or so buses? We know already that Arriva have a waiting list of "conductors" who can be trained gradually and then start working as the route converts progressively. Route 38 passengers are used to having mixed mode operation over the months. I went by DLA 180 quoting as next after the 10.

Analyzing the post from LOTs, It seems that route 38 will get a phased conversion in different batches with the first batch of LTs coming for the route; It will probably be LT172/173 (Euro 6 trials) and LT176-187 (Most likely Euro 5). I'm guessing the next batch(es) after that for route 38 will be Euro 6.

I rode LT2 on route 38 last Easter Monday. I specifically printed off a timetable of LT workings that was on the londonbusroutes.net website, and managed to reach Islington in time for an LT in both directions within the space of about 10 minutes! As the northbound one was due first I stayed on the west side of Islington High Street, and rode LT2 as far as Dalston Junction.

Also LT8 is modded to Euro VI and is destined for Metroline according to LOTS.

Kind of suggests those Arriva routes waiting tender results could be getting route 38 cast offs. Need to do the maths based on 4.5 LTs per week and the pvrs but seems to work.

To me it says 1st of the main batch. LT176-187 would not constitute the main batch in my eyes. Additionally has it been confirmed that the 8's conversion date will be synchronized with the start of the new contract? Being a retained contract, this does not have to be the case.
