AE tend to put out a T or a DW on the route if short.

Also don't forget that LT1-3 are not currently with Arriva so that only leaves 4-8 to work the route.

This leaves LTs4-7 for the 38 and it's no surprise if their appearances are intermittent. I did see LT6 this afternoon just emerging from Clapton Garage. I'm a tiny bit annoyed about LT8 as it's the only one of the original 8 I haven't got a snap of.

And don't worry Snoggle, I'm sure you will get many more pics of many LTs on route 38 in the near future .

The problem with all these worldwide tours is that no one knows where in the world the buses are! That makes four buses apparently "on their hols" but I only know of LT3 being in Singapore recently. I think the buses are really back at the Wrights factory because no one else wants to buy them!

It is supposed to be being updated with some of the features applied to the production run the that the prototypes missed out on. All 5 of the Arriva prototypes are expected to return to Wrights at some stage in the future .. most probably a protracted period.

LT8 is apparently being converted to euro6 spec and is one of the 6 test vehicles for euro6 LTs. LTs 172 and 173 are also test vehicles and will operate with Arriva. Source - Leon Daniels on another forum.
A complete guess on my part is that route 38 will see a boost to its roster of LT vehicles given that it has been the test route before and Arriva / Wrights are familiar with that route / dealing with test vehicles.

Interesting update on the LOTS website.
Seems the 38 is next in line for NBfL conversion after the 10 and news on the Euro6 demonstrators. Seems LT8 will become a Metroline vehicle.
I am guessing the upcoming potential Arriva decker awards will be based around cascaded ex-38 vehicles.

Warning - speculation ahead. LOTS have not quoted a conversion date so don't know where June comes from. We also need to consider that TfL will want to take some time to evaluate euro6 spec NB4Ls in service before having a big delivery of them. I wonder if route 8's vehicles will be euro5 spec thereby allowing a break in production (the workers in NI will need their Summer holidays)? Route 38 could then convert gradually with euro6 spec buses once TfL and Wrights are convinced they're working OK. I cannot see TfL wanting a big bang conversion - where are they going to store 60 or so buses? We know already that Arriva have a waiting list of "conductors" who can be trained gradually and then start working as the route converts progressively. Route 38 passengers are used to having mixed mode operation over the months.
