Greyfriars bus station in Northampton closed on Sunday 1st March, demolition will begin in April. The new North Gate bus station opened on the same day. I know Greyfriars had a terrible reputation but the one time I have been in it I was reasonably impressed with the warmth of the waiting area, plenty of seats, toilets, enquiry office and real time info at each of the stops. Getting into the place via the subways was not nice and I'd be very dubious about using them late at night but that's not the fault of the bus station. I read a comment on the local Northampton newspaper website that the new bus station does not have any heating despite it being one of those swish glass affairs which cook you alive in the Summer and freeze you to death in the Winter. Assuming the comment is correct what sort of idiot designs an enclosed bus station waiting area without heating?

There seems to have been plenty of negative comments from locals about the new bus station
