Apparently the 8 will now not go back to Oxford circus until 2015, does anyone know why?

Apparently the 8 will now not go back to Oxford circus until 2015, does anyone know why? At a guess I would assume further Crossrail work. I was at Tottenham Court Road end of Oxford Street today and noticed all the tatty souvenir shops all have £1 sales and are closing down so guessing these shops are about to come down in connection with work.

A whole load of services have received temporary timetables / changed PVRs as of today to cope with the inevitable congestion. I suspect trying to put the 8 back to Oxford Circus would just require too much extra resource.

I hope they leave at least one of those souvenir shops... at least the ones with a Bureau De Change. They're really useful for changing Euros to Pounds. If you go to one of those professional foreign exchanges they rip you right off! Never again after I got 77€ from £80! There's plenty of routes that go between Oxford St/Tottenham Court Road anyway, so there's not much rush really.
